Vlad injury might be significant if it was enough to pull him from game, guy is one of the most durable there is

He doesn’t bunt often but Skenes is one of the best pitchers in baseball. That should tell you what he thought his chances were of hitting him in that spot.

If he gets that by him instead of bunting it right to him, it’s an easy hit as well. Skenes was also gonna be out of the game after the 6th anyway so nothing was lost there on that front.
