What is with this Kawhi Leonard angle that keeps getting mentioned? Bobby is ultimately who I wanted running this team as I have zero confidence Rogers would hire someone better. But, Bobby having a preexisting relationship with the Spurs GM isn’t exactly a selling point for why he should have the ultimate baseball decisions for the team going forward. Are we hoping he just has the same relationship with every other GM in the league or that we’ll somehow get Wemby?

The Raptors won a championship because they built a deep enough team where they could trade a bunch of assets for Kawhi and still have probably the deepest team in the league after the trade. This was with no major free agent signings. We want to have whoever built that team. Let’s hope Bobby can carry that as it looks like this team was on their way to building that way again before Masai was fired.

Raptors avoided giving max extensions to Siakam, OG and a contract over $25 million a year to FVV.

Yet for 2025-26 season, they're over the 1st apron at $197 million.

The big extensions to Barnes and IQ haven't prevented the team from losing more games since Siakam, FVV and OG. Raptors were 41-41 in 2022-23.

So winning only 30 games is good for draft lottery but it's a very expensive roster relative to results.

This season they may have a chance to get into the top 8 since there have been key injuries in the EC

Now do we assume that Masai drove most of these moves the last 3-4 years? He had the final say but do we know for a fact if Webster and others were completely on board or maybe even pushed for some of the moves and Masai approved it?

We are not over the 1st apron - point blank period

Wherever you got that from is mistaken.
Unlikely incentives do count towards the apron, but not the luxury tax, and even with the unlikely incentives becoming fruitful, we still wouldn't be a 1st apron team

Hiring Bobby just makes sense with the incompetence and mess that Pelley created within this organization.

He's basically operating as the President without the title. Unless you're actively involved in business side of the operations, there's little difference. He has the control over team decisions and that's what matters in the end.

I'm happy with this...takes away the sting from firing Masai, at least the rest of the staff remain in tact and there is continuity. Bobby has been with Masai since day 1 in 2013 and a critical part of the decision-making.

If Rogers let Jays President Mark Shapiro go (expiring contract like leafs Shanahan), then we get the big picture - eliminating the Presidents and saving big bucks - does not portend well but we will see.

At least this would be consistent. Then again it’s Rogers so I’m not holding my breath. Then again if it’s about saving money at the expense of people, it’s plausible. Don’t even know at this point. All I know is that Rogers was horrible to my family as a business and I have cut ties with every service they provide where possible.

For Casey to reach this far in the process screams incompetency. Lol. Ed was likely a fan and got his minion pelley to interview him. Eversley another guy who's been useless in the NBA - both of them shouldn't have been interviewed.

Anyways, the right call was made. Give the torch to Bobby and let him ride and see where we are in 12 months. The East is wide open - there's no reason why we can't be in the playoffs next season. This FO has to be forward thinking, ahead of the curve. Can Bobby be that guy? We shall see.
