Related to this comment, my wife and I were trying to find something to watch and she was like, should we watch Lost, I’ve never seen it and I was like hell yeah. But now I’m wondering if this is some cruel and unusual torture I’m subjecting her to knowing where this journey is headed.

Hoping the amount of loose ends and the overall ending aren’t as bad as I remember.

Just finished S1. The Island and all the mini mysteries around each character are still all so captivating. I think if I treat them as cool elements/coinicdences instead of things that need answers than it will all be more enjoyable. Like what logical explanation for the smoke monster would be satisfying? 40 minute episodes absolutely rip, seems easier to watch four 40 minute episdeos in one sitting than two 2-hour episoes for some reason. I'm actually enjoying a lot of the filler that you don't find with modern 8 episode a season TV anymore. Makes things easier to digest.

The Departed was fantastic.

Now I'm starting Mr. Robot. There are always a few widely popular movies/shows you miss. It's time I hit the historical favorites hard since not much of the new stuff is scratching my itch.

Just introduced my family to It's a mad mad mad mad world.

What a wonderful film.

I'm definitely in on that one. Really doesn't seem like a PTA movie at all.

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my oldest daughter and I watched it Maybe 12-14 years ago (she was about 10).

But I made her wait a week like we all had to. And then wait 4 months between seasons. We watched it every Wednesday night for 6 years (minus summers). It was pretty great. She loved it. I'm not sure if she cheated near the end, but she still sat with me every Wednesday.

My youngest wants to do it too, and we'll be starting on September 22 (20th anniversary of the premiere). I doubt that this one won't cheat though lol. I think the anticipation makes the show better personally.

I've only ever watched 1 Marvel movie, the original Iron Man in 2008. I think I liked it. I'm not really sure the movies are something I'd be into but if I wanted to watch is it best to watch chronologically (I found the list below)? Or doesn't it matter? Are they all connected or are some just stand alone movies? Are some so bad I should just skip and not waste my time? Are they all on Disney+? Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Obligatory comment whenever someone mentions they’re starting Mr. Robot lol - the first half of season 2 is weird as hell. A lot of people tap out at that point but just power through it because you will be rewarded, seasons 3 and especially 4 are incredible.

RS pretty much nailed it and yes these are all on D+.

I'd still watch Avengers Ultron, because its an Avengers, but also a ton of motivations that occur in Phase 3 are because of the events in that movie. There are definitely some important aspects of the timeline that occur in some of the movies that are cut out in Phase 1/2, but frankly, those movies aren't that good and you can just find a summary that covers it before Infinity War.

I'd probably recommend all of phase 3, they are all really good outside of Captain Marvel.

Post No Way Home, they've all mostly been good to meh, but it doesn't seem as cohesively planned as Phase 3 and they got burned investing a ton into Jonathan Majors. This year, I enjoyed both Thunderbolts and F4 and those should be important for Doomsday next year. Of the rest, I'd probably just check out GOTG 3, if you like those characters and Deadpool, which the was a lot of fun.

For the shows, the only good ones are Loki and Wandavision. I guess the ones released this year have been good too, but I haven't cared to watch tbh, so I can't say either way.

Black Widow might be the only post "Phase 3" movie I both enjoyed and felt had any reason to exist. Every other movie I've seen since then has been nothing more than low-hanging nostalgia bait. Like, it's fun for a movie like Deadpool and Wolverine where self-deprecating humor is kind of the point, but the multi-verse stuff is just the dumbest plot device ever and they've clearly squeezed the well dry there.

The second spider-man was pretty meh, i would dump it and add Spiderman into the spider-verse.

Also I like the Punisher series with Bernthal, the first Venom was ok

The Spider-verse movies aren't part of the MCU, but I'd also say they're better than anything the MCU has ever produced.

I mentioned I was doing a rewatch last week, but I 100% believe Agents of SHIELD is one of the very best things Marvel's cranked out this century. The first season directly relates to the movies, but the MCU ended up ignoring the show for the rest of the run time and that was for the best. The show was much, much better than the movies. It got lean in the later seasons, but it also took massive swings that were at the very least interesting.

It's a show about spies in a world where there's superheroes and supervillains. If that elevator pitch doesn't get you I don't know what would.

I’d watch the first three phases Mickey. They’re all pretty good (some better than others) and it’ll make Infinity War and Endgame a lot better once you get there.

After that it’s a bit of a **** show. Most of them are fine (granted I’ve only seen a few of them) but Marvel fatigue was pretty real by that point.

Edit: No Way Home is good post phase three. Haven’t seen any of the phase 5 movies.

The best marvel and dc stuff is the stuff that stays the truest to the comics
