The Toronto Raptors have agreed to sign and trade Collin Sexton along with Josh Okogie to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Cason Wallace and Andrew Nembhard.

2 Question for you guys..

1. If the contract you need to beat a current offer (ie: $4/3 years) can you offer $12/1 to beat it instead?

2. If you offered a contract for a guy and he hasn't been bid against but you wanna change the length can you offer them a longer contract? (Ie: original offer was $10/1, but now you send another bid at $10/3 etc? Even if no one bid against you?)

1. Yes, you can offer a shorter term deal that beats a longer term deal but its all part of Bish formula (length of contract and FA rating). For example a 4 years $120 probably isn't going to beat by a 1 year $150 contract often. So you would have to overpay for shorter length terms.

That is why you see guys going for shorter annual salaries but 4 or 5 years to try to bring down the cap hit on a year bases. But then you potentially have the risk of a player for longer than you want. Kinda kicking the can down the road.

2. I honestly don't know the answer to that question. I have never bid against myself. But I assume if you want the lengthen the contract (and he hasn't officially signed with you yet) you would just submit a new bid and it would reset the clock for that player. But unless someone has done that in the past I would confirm with Bish you can do that.

Nothing fancy but happy with the move. Minnesota had to go bargain shopping this year unfortunately. Definitely need some big depth though
