This run differential talk is a bit misleading, since the Jays for two and a half months had to rely on guys like Easton Lucas and Bowden Francis pitching every 5 days. Francis was terrible in nine out of his 10 starts.

We should be looking at the run differential stats when these two scrub pitchers were no longer counted in the rotation, and Scherzer came back. The Jays run differential stats are a lot better.

Gausman is the only guy among those who could ever be said to be an ace for any period of time and he’s well past his prime at this point.
