Looks like Spurs may be losing Eze to Arsenal.

It's clear the player wanted Arsenal as he grew up an Arsenal fan, and it seems that they're offering better terms, which is why I was cautious about getting too invested in Eze. It's best to move on and go after other targets. Savinho is the one I'd really like, but it seems that deal will be difficult as well if not impossible if City don't want to sell.

The move from Arsenal seems to have been expedited by Havertz picking up an injury.

And there it is. If it weren't for the incompetence of Newcastle United, Levy would be getting more stick. First, it was MGW, now Eze.

Arteta has been given nearly a billion for two trophies (FA Cup and Community Shield). The joke now is folks claiming they are Stoke City version 2.0.

We had agreed the financials a while ago, but Palace and Parish dragged their feet and insisted Eze play more games for them, possibly waiting for Arsenal to come back in. And because of Havertz's injury, that gambit appears to have succeeded. Life is too short to get worked up over hypothetical football transfers. I'm disappointed not to sign him as he's a quality player and one I really enjoyed watching at QPR and Palace, but I remain unconvinced that he's the correct profile of #10 that this team needs.

The reality is, teams like Spurs and Newcastle are cash rich (PSR abiding) but not in the same ball park as the likes of City, Liverpool, Arsenal, United and Chelsea when it comes to finances and player pull. When it comes to a choice between Spurs and Arsenal, or Newcastle and Liverpool, it's an easy one for players, 9 times out of 10. They simply don't have the clout to compete with these teams for established star players and elite prospects.

My guess is that Spurs will move for Leicester's El Khannouss, or Tyler Dibling in the coming days, but that's purely speculative. The former may actually go to Palace as Eze's replacement.

The issue, then, is targeting those players in the first place. If what you say is true, Levy should have backed away as soon as he heard Eze is playing another game for Crystal Palace. Think of how deluded that is, the risk of injury or worse, in this case, delaying the transfer for another club to swoop in.

I, too, have seen El Khannouss linked to Crystal Palace as Eze's replacement. Dibling, on the other hand, is not a 10.

To be clear, my source for the above is Matt Law, who is usually pretty reliable for London transfer information.

I agree by all accounts, it's poor practice. And yes, Dibling is a winger, I only bring him up because I feel like he's a player we've been interested in for a while and seems likely to be on the move. Everton is the other interested party, I believe. I don't know who our next #10 option will be. Akliouche may be feasible but will likely command a similar fee to Eze, so I'm unsure. I like Simons, but he seems Chelsea bound.

Based on this, it's looking like Isak may be the one telling the truth:

Newcastle United have bungled their entire summer. Some may say they would be giving in to the player's wishes, but selling Isak is the correct answer. The club must know, if he stays and eventually plays, his head and heart are not into it. Every miss will be criticized by the fans. Howe will continue to be asked questions. The disruption will not end with the close of the transfer window.

One of the commentators said that with Newcastle's injuries, they may have no choice but to insist that Isak play for them at least this season.

He's under contract for 3 seasons including this one. Is it the club's prerogative to hold out for a bigger transfer fee, despite Isak's wishes?

They can insist all they want, but Isak does not have to play another MEANINGFUL minute for them. He can collect his wages by going through the motions, and, ultimately, forcing Howe to bench him. Newcastle United will have then devalued one of its top assets.

There have been instances when players in the past have wanted out but stayed one more season before being sold. Suarez at Liverpool, is one example. In his case, it worked out for the Reds. But there are other times when clubs weren't so lucky. The kicker, though, is I cannot think of one where the player has gone as public as Isak. Bridges were burnt.

And the hits keep coming for Newcastle United...

I don't recall a club ever being rejected this many times in one window for one position.

Anyone familiar with Piero Hincapie? Sounds like we're making a move to sign him, while selling Kiwior at the same time.

What do you want to know?

Left footed, fairly strong on the ball, probably top three fastest CBs in the Bundesliga last season, good playmaking ability, can occassionally play LB, too, a bit short for a CB (e.g. headers not his biggest strength) and sometimes a bit shaky in the pure defending skills (again not the biggest player and also not the most muscles either).

Probably fits best in a system with 3 CBs as left CB which Leverkusen was using a lot under Alonso.
