Heat were offering next to nothing, and if they'd have acquired KD it would have been a big win for then.

Yes, but only if they got him for next to nothing. You just shouldn't add value to a player as old as Durant. Caveat emptor

At this stage of his career the Heat are in no position to go "all in" (and make no mistake, no matter what you feel about the value of the players, that does basically represent the Heat going all in) for Durant. I'd be willing to throw more to pry Giddey away from Chicago than in a trade for Durant. At least Giddey fills a big void in our team while also being on our timeline. But if the Bulls keep playing him, we might be able to snag him for free.

I wouldn't see why they have the back and forth of offers if they didn't want KD. It would be obvious if they didn't make an attempt like many other teams.

The Heat lowballed the Suns for KD, just like they lowballed the Blazers for Lillard. They value their own players highly or they are trying to make a trade where they get something valuable by not giving up much value.
Bc of you can get him for junk you absolutely do it so they tried. But it seems they have finally accepted their team is not good enough to go in on older stars which is the right call for them

Personally, I see it as the other way around. We didn't see Durant as the guy who could take us where we wanted to be. You gotta remember, this same core with Jimmy was a Finals team. I don't think Durant, in his current form, could replicate what Jimmy did.

Suns’ counter:

- Jaime Jaquez Jr.
- Nikola Jovic
- 20th pick & pick-swap

Rockets winning offer :
-Jalen Green
-Dillon Brooks
-10th pick

Should the Heat have met the Suns' counter? Was either Miami package better than what the Rockets gave?

That Heat offer is so much better than what they ended up getting. Jalen Green **** sucks.
still learning the game
