You're right, no doubt. He's had a few chances; if it was going to happen it would already have....

I doubt Bo Outlaw makes it in today's NBA.pcbothwel wrote:payitforward wrote:I was shocked when Ayayi didn't make it in the league. Thought he was a lock. His senior numbers were unbelievably good.
Still can't understand it to tell the truth....
Im still convinced and make it back. However, there may be something about a Jack of all trades issue. In college, these guys light up the stat sheet and the advanced stats love them. But they dont have a single elite skill set to rely on, which makes carving out a role tough.
6'4-6'6 guys who can pass, shoot, rebound, etc. look great. But if they cant create enough for themselves or others, then they cant be an on ball creator.
Shooting open C&S 3's and being an average defender just isnt enough these days.
Perhaps he couldn't shoot. Bad comparison?
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Bo had an elite skill, he was an elite man defender as a pro. Very limited shooting ability but might develop the corner 3 which would make him playable.

Watched him when he was with Sac. It was frustrating when he was younger that he didn't get the opportunity to play more as a rookie and then too much in his second year (if you will). His D was okay but not great then - easily pushed around. He seems "sturdier" now.
He always had a good looking release on his shot and can definitely shoot the 3. IMO, he should either be shooting at the rim or from 3 but that never seemed to be the case.

I am guessing he is just here for a pre-season gig to see if he can catch on somewhere. He isn't a good fit next to Sarr (IMO), so there is that.

Don't you worry. Kispert has been grinding all offseason to improve... his pickleball game:
Pickleball...? Is he retired? Thats it. One more crazy trade to get him off the team. Kispert to Denver for Valanciunas and DeRon Holmes.
Yes I know Val is kind of retired, but if Bagley can come back, so can Val. Lets get someone who wants to play pickleball.

Re: 2025 Offseason
I'm glad for Labissiere to get a shot in training camp, but it's hard to see him earning a roster spot with us given that we're already 1 over the limit.
What is the case, however, is that he becomes an asset -- at least a small asset -- to use in a deal that moves multiple guys for 1 guy -- & thereby gets back down to 15 regular roster guys and 3 two-way players.
Note that we also signed Alondes Williams -- a guy some people liked a little bit in the '22 draft & who has managed to get on an nba floor for 18 minutes since then. Not expecting to see him on the Wizards either -- but maybe on the GoGo....

I do feel that it is getting more difficult to do the 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deal as this offseason progresses. It seems more and more teams are filling up their rosters. But, this FO has done a nice job dealing with these types of situations, so there is that.
My guess though is that we will simply waive folks.

Yeah, there is zero chance Labissiere is moved for any value whatsoever. He will not make the roster either. He is a temporary signing for training camp.

Re: 2025 Offseason
Pretty straightforward: teams that didn't sign him for nothing in August will not give resources for the chance to sign him in Septembe/October..
