I thought they had already retired it last season.

I know he means a lot to the city, but he only led the Bulls in win shares one time and only played 406 games for them. 31.4 career win shares for them. Noah and Deng were probably the real heroes of those Bulls teams. Unsure how to feel about DRose.

Worst MVP of all-time, only fitting he gets one of the worst jersey retirements as well.

Rose was probably the most athletic MVP of all-time, even more athletic than Michael Jordan.
And his stats were definitely MVP level, 25.0 points per game, 7.7 assists per game.
He was the best player by far in the Bulls team that won 62 games, 4 games more than Miami.

He absolutely deserves it, he's an all-time Bull. Beyond happy no one will wear #1 again.

And then Miami wrecked them in 5 games. No one cared about regular season record between 1st and 2nd seed.

I didn't realize the playoffs counted toward regular season awards.
Nobody cares about (yet to occur) playoff results during the regular season...

Thank god someone said it...a majority of NBA fans aren't ready to have that conversation.

I was almost going to put "yall only cared about his athleticism" in my original post and...probably should have included it lol

He means a lot to a certain basketball generation when they were growing up. He was like how Tmac was to the generation before that. Just a super likeable star and transitioned into a valuable 6th man when Injuries robbed him of his superstar status. Brought the most hope to Chicago since MJ so it makes sense on alot of levels.

What a strange comment. I love Noah and Deng, and definitely believe that Noah should have made the Bulls ring of honor and certainly should have made it over Toni Kukoc.
I love Deng, but he definitely wasn’t the “real hero.” In 2014 the Bulls were 14-18 with Deng and 48-34 without him.
Rose won ROTY, MVP, and is tied with Kareem for most points by a rookie in a playoff debut.
We can also look at other stats besides WS from 2010-2012.
2010
Rose: 21, 6, and 4, 53.2 TS%, 18.6 PER, 6.0 WS, 1.7 BPM, 2.7 VORP, +4.4 on/off
Deng: 18, 2, and 7, 53.1 TS%, 16.1 PER, 5.9 WS, 1.0 BPM, 2.0 VORP, +8.0 on/off
Noah: 11, 2, and 11, 55.7 TS%, 17.9 PER, 6.2 WS, 1.6 BPM, 1.7 VORP, +0.5 on/off
2011
Rose: 25, 8, and 4, 55 TS%, 23.5 PER, 13.1 WS, 6.8 BPM, 6.7 VORP, +2.8 on/off
Deng: 17, 3, and 6, 54.9 TS%, 15.5 PER, 9.9 WS, 1.7 BPM, 3.0 VORP, +2.5 on/off
Noah: 12, 2, and 10, 57.9 TS%, 18.8 PER, 6.7 WS, 2.9 BPM, 1.9 VORP, -4.4 on/off
2012
Rose: 21, 8, and 3, 53.2 TS%, 23 PER, 6.0 WS, 6.4 BPM, 2.9 VORP, +2.0 on/off
Deng: 15, 3, and 7, 50 TS%, 14.1 PER, 5.8 WS, 1.7 BPM, 2.0 VORP, -0.4 on/off
Noah: 10, 3, and 10, 56.1 TS%, 19.6 PER, 9.0 WS, 3.8 BPM, 2.8 VORP, -4.9 on/off

Played 7 seasons with the franchise, won ROY, won MVP, made the all-star team 4 times, and led the team to the conference finals in 2011. He deserves it. A lot of guys that have done less got their jerseys retired.
Bulls have not retired a player jersey in like two decades.

Yeah, really crazy to lose in the Conference Finals as a 22 year old against prime Lebron and DWade

At his apex was beyond great. No one really thought that the Bulls would have a better season than the Heat in his MVP year. He was the youngest MVP and for a team that had to deal with Fizer, Curry, Gordan, and etc… he was everything you can ask for in a post MJ era. Before people hate on him, realize he is the best player in the post mj era for the bulls.

Dirk and MJ went on to have many more great seasons and won the NBA Finals and Finals MVP.
Point is - Rose’s peak just isn’t that great and very very short obviously.

What do you expect? He only won the award because voters were protesting Lebron joining the Heat.

And Rose had 4 very successful seasons in Chicago before he had a very bad injury and still gave his best afterwards to carve out a pretty solid NBA career. It´s not the hall of fame, it´s a team decision. He is a hometown kid that gave everything for the franchise and cried when he was traded. So I don´t get what the problem is here. There are more than enough examples of players with retired numbers that played shorter durations and had less success and impact on their respective teams.

Oh, I don’t care about them retiring his jersey. That’s their decision.
