This coaching search puts the ass in assistant coach.

Saw one of my die-hard Kings fans friends for the first time since school started back up. He walked up to me with a big smile and said, "you guys got Brown, huh," as dads do when they're at school and making conversation about one another's sports teams.

He thinks it's an interesting play. He said Brown ran into trouble because he was more old school when it came to his coaching style, and it might not be well received by the younger/modern generation. Terrified after years of watching a dinosaur coach ramming a square peg into a round hole, I asked him what he meant. He said that Brown would often pull a player who did something like miss an important defensive rotation, or set up in the wrong stance, and immediately coach him right there on the sideline in an animated/demonstrable way. He said he thought the younger players were not fans of getting put on blast like that, and it was a disconnect between them and Brown eventually. "I don't think that works in the today's NBA"

As we finished up the conversation and were parting ways, he closed it by saying, "but he (Brown) was NOT the problem here." I said, "no?" and he said, "no, definitely not."

I'm ready to see what's up, fingers crossed and cautiously optimistic.

Dunn wasn't available in the second round when Kolek was picked, the wasted pick was Pacome, get your hysterics in order GA....be better.

Think one of Pacome, McCullar, Kolek or Huk will find their way into the regular season rotation

Pretty clear that Brunson, Hart probably embrace an old school coach, with, at the least, Deuce, Mitch, OG being tolerant or also good with it.

Brown's ability to get through to Mikal and KAT with the right mixture seems to be the key, besides the obvious stuff of expanding the rotation for health/diversify the offense/maintain the defensive level while being more matchup flexible

The guy took last year's rotation and added the two FA signings. This is top level analysis.

I think the 'old school' stuff is a little overblown, if a player can't handle a little coaching up during a game and expects you to wait until you are in private to say something that's a guy I don't want on the team. If it's screaming like madman, ok, that's too much but coaching has to be done.

Coaching a guy up real time in game is a crucial part of strategery, as long as it's done respectfully then a player should not be butthurt that someone, fans or otherwise, in the vicinity can hear it. I'm a bit tired of the fragile egos of these players, man up, you are a pro in the best league.

I’m a big James Edward hater but it’s the fans fault for asking such a dumb question. Assuming the mailbag questions were real and not something he made up for an article  with that being said, I think Hukporti has a shot of being the 10th man. He’s probably the only one of the kids that has shown he can hang on an nba court. Plus I’d imagine they’ll try to limit Mitch’s minutes to try to keep him upright for the playoffs

I don't think Dadiet is anywhere close to being a rotation player.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I’m weirdly excited to see how Brown runs his rotations. We’ve had Thibs for so many years that I know exactly what to expect. It’s like usually Brunson plays the whole first and 3rd quarters. One of the starters plays with the bench as the focal point.
Now I’ve got no clue what to expect or how the minutes will even work. I’m sure the novelty will wear off quickly but the change of philosophy and styles should be fun for a little while.

Especially fun if bench guys make some surprising contributions. I don't want to dump on Thibs but I can picture some guys doing things that make fans say, if only he had a chance to do that before

Thibs gave us many good things but he also gave us an amazing amount of frustration. I don't know one fan who wasn't screaming at the screen to make Thibs gave the team better plays, more flexible defense, better ATO plays, more bench play to keep the starters from running out of gas, and wait, there's more!
So yeah, I'm with you on hoping for making more of everyone's talents and strengths. WIll Hart pout if he doesn't play the full 48? Will Bridges complain the has too little time to take all the shots he's going to be told to take? Will KAT moan he isn't playing drop coverage all the time? NO, No, and No!

Maybe one of the kids will pop but that’s not what the biggest difference with this team is from last year. We’ve replaced fringe nba players like Payne, Precious, and Shamet off the bench with Clarkson Yabuselle, and Hart. It’s not defense of Thibs playing 8 guys but we were trotting dudes out in the playoffs that careers are now over.

We didn’t really have any options at the 4 cuz of injuries and roster constructions. Now we can play yabu, OG, Kat, and maybe hart in some small doses. Our centers went from Kat, precious, sims to Mitch, Kat, yabu, Hukporti. This team is much deeper with ability to play a bunch of different ways.
