Yes and no. He's still a good player on the vet min and the NBA will be watching him like a hawk for evidence to suspend (and still might suspend him). There's some ethical/moral concerns about bringing in a good like that but give me him over someone who has hit a woman or punched a fan sitting courtside in Puerto Rico.

It's f-ing insane to me that the federal government wasted money on this. If the NBA cares about the integrity of the game they can spend their own money they got from the gambling sites and start investigating him.

They could still suspend him but this pretty much rules out a Jontay Porter situation. Sucks for Beas with the timing of all this because now he'll have to take another 1-year prove it deal and hope he can have another season like the last two. Detroit can still offer him $7.2 million and I could see that still being the best mutual fit.

Beas back to Detroit for the MLE seems to make the most sense. They'd have early bird on him next offseason then if he has another good year

I don't know if we'll know the full story but the guy had to borrow $30k from his barber and another $30k from a dentist. This wasn't for work done, these were cash loans. A sports management group sued him this year for $650K. They gave Beas that as an advance, then he fired them and kept the money. He was evicted from his place in Detroit for non payment of rent. There's other money he owes. So something was going on.

A good first step is for sportsbook to stop taking prop bets on unders. I doubt they will without legislation though and that's handled at the state level.

If he's cheating the betting system, shouldn't he be making a profit? You'd expect him to be living in a palace on a minimum salary.

What you're talking about is evocative of bad investments, living beyond means, partying, heavy drug use, etc. He needs to double digits this offseason. His play warranted it. Then he should live very conservatively the next couple of years, until he gets well out of this hole.

They don't have the MLE. Used it on LeVert. Also signed Duncan. Beasley's pretty redundant there now.

Maybe he could latch on to one of the bad teams who haven't use the MLE or room. Then they flip him as an expiring/player, while getting a couple 2nds. Though maybe they'll prefer to lose & maintain the space to get teams under aprons at the deadline.

I think he was betting, not cheating. And losing, as virtually everyone does in sports betting. If could be simply spending/investments but this smells like a gambling problem. We'll probably never know unless the court cases go to trial. I assume they will eventually be settled.

You're correct, not the MLE, but Detroit could re-sign him for 1/7.2 I believe

The cheating didn't start until he lost it all betting. That opened him up to extortion.

That's what it appears to be. Tough to prove though.

Hours later, and no one is reporting Beasley has been cleared. Shams is no longer a credible source, and Beasley hasn't been cleared

I’ll put $200 on the over for Beasley at 4.5 fouls. :D

My "reportedly no longer the target of a federal investigation" t-shirt has people asking a lot of questions already answered by my shirt.

Twice today now I've had to google first rounders mentioned here because I wasn't sure they were real people.
