Apparently nuance is impossible in your world. I guess you like the beer prices and the price of your cable bill too because they support your team. I don’t believe in shats but doesn’t stop me from supporting the team/going to games. See, not that hard. Nuance my guy.

Except the team being good and you enjoying THAT is directly related to the people you don't support and that makes less than zero sense, my guy

I don’t know how they did it. Shats are perpetual failures.

Shatkins have finally turned a corner with the farm system (my biggest criticism). I was impressed with their deadline - particularly not pushing ALL the chips in when Shapiro is on an expiring contract. It may be too little, too late though. I suspect they will need real playoff revenue to avoid the axe. They have not done enough yet to warrant another contract. We'll see. I'm cautiously optimistic about their playoff chances but it looks like their unlikely offensive success is starting to cool off. I still believe they have a chance but there are definitely some teams that scare me in the AL.

Every team has rough patches but so far the Jays have been managing to not lose too many in a row when they're struggling.

I think when really looking at the teams record over the past five years, even given the playoff struggles its hard not to see how this isn't the best the Jays have been for a sustained period since the world series years. 91, 92, 89 and another very good shot at a 90 win season again this year, with one lousy year.

LOL you just ignored 2015-2016?

Shaptkins should be gone. The magic pixie dust since May will mean revert in the playoffs.

Yeah that was a really awesome two year run. The peak team from that year was better than the teams from the past five years, but that was single season. But it was still just the two years.

At the end of the day they've built a very deep team with their positional players. We have enough solid outfielders/infielders that there are legitimate decisions that need to be made if everyone was healthy. Our bench players like Schneider have been excellent (and have solid peripherals too). Vladdy has been great, Kirk has been great. On the positional player side they are all broadly hitting like their peripherals expect them too, if not overall slightly underperforming them. We already know they're great defensively.

The bullpen has depth, enough depth that when we had to send down someone for Bieber, we had to send down Braydon Fisher, who has a 2.70 FIP, has 50 strikeouts in 38 innings.

The rotation is the weakness right now, and Bieber is going to be the question. If he's solid, the team can do well in the playoffs.

I'm going to prematurely pencil in Shane Bieber for the game one start in the playoffs now.

I've got him for game 7 of the World Series.

I've got him for game 4 of the World Series, as the Jays complete a sweep of the Dodgers to win the World Series! 8-)

We're not in a great position to contend long-term. Our starting pitchers are all on the wrong side of 30 and we've done a piss poor job developing arms in the minors.

We're also about to lose a 3-4+ WAR player in free agency (Bichette) or overpay to keep him, because Shatkins couldn't extend their two franchise cornerstones (cornerstones that they were lucky to inherit from the previous FO) in a timely manner.

They've done a good job shoring up the depth this year (although we're outplaying our Pythagorean record by 5 games), but this isn't some up-and-coming contender. We're likely looking at a 3rd or worse place finish in the division next year. Shatkins should have been fired years ago.

Shane and Kawhi similarities:

- Both Cali guys
- Both guys joined Toronto after spending 7 seasons with the club that drafted them
- Both guys won major awards in their 4th seasons (Cy Young and DPOY)
- Both guys joined Toronto after sitting out the season prior
- Both guys on expiring contracts

I just hope Bieber stays. :')

It was definitely a low risk - high reward trade.
IFFFF Bieber is actually as good as he looked today, that's a biiiig time boost.

I still don't trust our bats to actually work when the going gets tough, but this is about as much playoff upside as we've had in a decade.

Watching the Jays every night, I always feel like the opponents are on the verge of a big inning. Last night, there was no such feeling. It felt effortless to watch.

Man if he continues what he did last night and Max continues to look great, it really sets the Jays up nicely.

Not sure what they were doing with Lauer last night. Seemed to be all over the place.

That Bieber start has definitely upped my excitement for this team a couple of levels. We weren't going to do much damage in the playoffs with such a shaky staff. If we have a true ace now, we'll be dangerous.

Hey all,
If this is inappropriate here, then please feel free to delete this, mods. Just wanted to share that I have Jays tickets for this coming Wednesday's game against the Twins. I am unable to go and am happy to sell them to anyone else that would like to go to the game instead. The seats are in section 538, row 9, seats 5,6. The price would be $74 for the pair.

Feel free to send me a PM and we can go from there :)

Again, mods, if this is not meant to be here, feel free to delete. I will do the same if/once sold.
