Great deal for both Bagent and the Bears. Happy to see Bagent rewarded for his hard work.

Does this mean that you're feeling the depth of this team, Fleet?

IDK if you've noticed but blocking from our WRs has improved. This will be crucial for forming a stronger run game. Burden and Olamide put their heart and soul into it.

usually a longer recovery timeline + increased risk that you don't come back the same

Ouch. Terrell Smith had impressed me with his potential often, especially for where he was selected in the 5th round, he has some incredible athletic tools. Considering Poles was able to find this kid that deep into the draft, I think it reflects well on him. I hope this doesn't screw him up, but instead helps him increase his resilience and work ethic. The Stoics believed adversity will make you rather than break you with the right mindset. Keep it pushing, young man!

That is crazy.
Who is the last QB that the Bears "drafted" that got a 2nd contract? Technically, Agent Bagent wasn't even drafted by Chicago (or anyone else for that matter). Harbaugh? He played here 6 years. Not sure how long is rookie contract was back then. Same for Tomczak

To be fair, some of the names on that list were never intended to be anything but stop gap measures. Others were later round picks. I only recognize Fields and Trubisky as guys that were drafted high to be franchise QB's.

Wonder if we made an offer. Or if Ben is happy with Swift and Johnson? Or the rookie

haven't really gotten any indication the team is interested in an RB upgrade beyond getting camp bodies in for injury purposes. assume we're content going into the season assuming *someone* proves themselves to be worthy of splitting carries with swift

(which i think is the right approach. no reason to think robinson is a major upgrade from roschon/monangai, or even the cadre of roster bubble guys behind them. our running game is gonna be more dependent on our line than the backs themselves)

He’s due for an extension, I doubt it.

though not listed, Cade mcnown and Rex Grossman were definitely drafted to be franchise QBs. Orton not entirely sure but was drafted here.

Chiefs are the chiefs but the defense looks bad.

Tyrique Stevenson sucks.

Its preseason, not too high or low yet. But if Luther is as good as I keep hearing, and I hear/ read it a lot, how come he isnt dominating these nonstarters? Why arent we just feeding him? I guess its just preseason.

Doubt the 10M is enough to make it the rest of his life, but your point still stands. He'll lose like 4M to taxes, probably a bunch of the rest of it will probably cover immediate costs. Could probably make it last if he's super careful, but most guys who make that much in 2 years aren't super careful.

Either way, still agree generally, feels like a win/win for both sides here.

You must be rich, bro. :D $6,000,000 at a conservative 4% return is $240,000/yr without doing anything. Put it in the SPY and average 6% to %10, that could be as much as $600,000 without any additional outside earnings or investments for life. That $10 mill is added to what he's already earned as an NFL backup, hope he's not in debt already, lol.

Yo Tyson Bagent might be better than Justin Fields and Mitch Trubisky for real now.

I just turned it on with Bears trailing 27-10, and saw Bagent come in and direct 3 TD drives, the last coming with 3 seconds left. That might be the best 25 minutes of Bears action I see all year.

I'm worried we aren't going to be able to run the ball well enough again. We only averaged 3.8 y/c and our longest run was a bootleg by Caleb that went for 18 yards. We did seem to be noticeably better at short yardage situations though, which is good.
