Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Man Bobby Knuckles lost a DEC to RDR, I wanted him to make another title run. Was a great fight though. Rob almost KO'd de Ridder... so close. DDP v Khamzat is coming up soon so that will be a big equation in the Middleweight class
Cheers

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
One of my faves is fighting this weekend... Tatsuro Taira! Got a new opponent after Albazi withdrew and I'm expecting a big performance. Some other good fights to be had, and it's in the Apex so generally if the card is bad there are a handful of finishes and win or get cut style fights... that's no different on Saturday.
Main card is solid, hopefully I can catch it, there's some stuff happening for me on Sat night here, tbd lol

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
This weekend we have a card, but at the Apex, bah, everyone knows my opines on that... Maybe not the who's-who of the roster but Dolidze/Hernandez main event has potential to be a pretty decent bout. The co-main could be a striking clinic by both - Erceg was kind of up-jumped and lost a few in a row so he's working his way back vs Ode. My fight to watch is Medic/Urbina on the prelims. Could be a banger.
Roman Dolidze vs. A. Hernandez
185 lbs
Steve Erceg vs. Ode Osbourne
135 lbs
Iasmin Lucindo vs. Angela Hill
115 lbs
Andre Fili vs. C. Rodriguez
145 lbs
Miles Johns vs. Jean Matsumoto
135 lbs
Eryk Anders vs. C. Duncan
185 lbs
Julius Walker vs. R. Cerqueira
205 lbs
Elijah Smith vs. T. Kazama
135 lbs
J. Edwards vs. P. Cachoeira
135 lbs
Uros Medic vs. Gilbert Urbina
170 lbs
G. Fernandes vs. J. Stoliarenko
125 lbs
Cody Brundage vs. Eric McConico
205 lbs
On another note, 319 is in a couple of weeks (DDP/Khamzat) and Dricus mentioned in an interview I came across that he's excited to fight in the same place Jordan won so much with the Bulls. He's not a basketball player but likes the sport. Cool to hear a little sports crossover. Also he threw the 1st pitch at Wrigley Field at a recent game lol
Khamzat is fighting in US, which is notable because he wasn't allowed in for all of Biden's term due to his relationship with Kadryov. I think Trump did Dana a solid on this visa. Regardless of that, cause i dont wanna derail off-topic to politics, Khamzat looks cool as a cucumber and dangerous AF. I'm a DDP fan and I'm VERY nervous, pretty sure Khamzat will look great. This fight should be awesome, one of my most anticipated matchups of the year.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
There was no way I could watch this lol started the prelims at midnight for me. I saw two fights then went to bed main event was like 5 am or something F that.
They have the KOs and SUBs in a youtube video, seemed like the crowd was pretty hyped up, but for us it was a difficult start time to catch live for sure! today I'm gonna watch motoGP and by chance my Raiders friend is heading over so we're gonna watch that game !

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Title Fights upcoming...
JDM v Islam [welterweight title]
Weili [vacates belt] v Valentina [flyweight title]
Huge bouts announced!
...meanwhile Jandiroba v Dern for the vacated straweight belt.
And Prates v Leon Edwards
early thoughts ? I'm taking Islam DEC and Valentina DEC [booo boring]. don't care much for the new strawweight matchup. Prates will KO Leon.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Hilarious Derns about to stumble into a title. Very underserved.
I know they’ve made the vacate belt if you move up rule but didn’t make sense for division at all. Not much happening for Weili.
Agree prates will beat Leon. He doesn’t have that dog in him.
Really think both champ vs champ matches could go either way but lean Val and Islam.

Totally agree. Strawweight division is pretty lacking tbf. It seems to be very difficult to string together wins for these ladies, a lot of them are pretty similar level in my assessment. Dern is marketable in the US to some fans, but I find this to be a lackluster title fight even if a finish happens...
For Weili and Valentina, I know it will be a great MMA match. They are actually pretty close in stature and reach, Val is only 1 year older. I'm hyped for this one bc both are legends. In the cage I favour Val's being hard to hit, very hard to take down, and does dmg/pts. Weili is patient on the feet too, and lately more aggressive on the ground, but seems the more explosive fighter to me - can catch Val if she's quick. She's also smaller than Val by a little bit and the move up in weight will be interesting to see her speed with extra kilos.
JDM is very polished and should be hard for Islam to match the boxing, I see JDM resisting the ground game, but I also see Islam with extra weight being really difficult to deal with. JDM is a great fighter and I love his boxing, he also got to touch up Belal who gassed out, wanted a fight on the feet (what?!?!), and was then inneffective lol. Belal is not Islam. I predict the move up in weight for Islam will benefit his wrestling, but idk about on the feet.
JDM, if he can keep this standing up absolutely can win rds and maybe even test the chin, I give him a good 40% to win this one. It might be closer than we expect because Islam had to fight tooth and nail to beat Poirier [@155], a great boxer with wrestling background too. JDM should not be taken lightly. That being said I'm still picking Islam because he's super high level and I rarely pick against the Khabib team, they win fights across all promotions.
Cheers

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
UFC Noche this Sat in San Antonio!
Main Event ft. Diego Lopes v Jean Silva
Both have been on a hot streak, Lopes most recently losing a DEC to Volk for the FW title. Silva has made a quick ascension to headlining. Both are very adept strikers and Lopes is a tough wrestler too. However, I see Silva KO2 for this one as I'm using recency bias to obscure logic - deathtouch works. Martinez v Font should be a great fight as well. Martinez is dangerous he could get a performance bonus, Font is game and needs to silence the crowd.
The rest of the card is below, and there's some decent fights, where this card lacks in star power, it makes up for it with fighters that will be eager to put on a show for their fans. I will also be trying to watch Alvarez/Crawford boxing main event -- Enjoy!
Main Event
Diego Lopes vs. Jean Silva
145 lbs
Co Main Event
Rob Font vs. David Martinez
135 lbs
Jared Gordon vs. Rafa García
155 lbs
K. Gastelum vs. D. Stoltzfus
185 lbs
A. Hernandez vs. Diego Ferreira
155 lbs
Santiago Luna vs. Quang Le
135 lbs
- Luna/Quang is interesting for sure. Hernandez is from San Antonio so he'll have a lot of support. Garcia is Mexican as well. Gastelum and Stolzfus doesn't really fit in terms of UFC Noche, hopefully it delivers a good fight. Stolzfus alternating w/l right now, he really hasn't impressed me so I'm picking KG for the DEC.
PRELIMS
José Medina vs. D. Todorović
185 lbs
C. Puelles vs. Joaquim Silva
155 lbs
Tatiana Suarez vs. Amanda Lemos
115 lbs
- Huge fight for both as Suarez recently lost to Weili for the SW Title, but Weili has moved up in weight now. Lemos is older but game, I'm actually picking Lemos to upset here.
Jesus Aguilar vs. Luis Gurule
125 lbs
- My pick for FOTN. I think both will come out swining, picking Aguilar DEC in a close one.
Zach Reese vs. S. Dumas
185 lbs
A. Costa vs. Alden Coria
125 lbs
Alice Pereira vs. M. Rendon
135 lbs
- Alex Pereira's sister is on this card making her UFC Debut. Her opponent is a veteran but not one that strings wins together.
R. Sezinando vs. D. Donchenko
170 lbs
