Which players will have the biggest breakout season?

Post#1 » by Gant » Sun Aug 24, 2025 3:41 pm

This season's team is opportunity central. Every player on this roster has a clear path to show they're better than anyone previously thought.

Brown will become a #1, and White a #2. Pritchard and Hauser will get increased responsibility. Simons could reinvent himself by showing some defense. At center, Queta and Garza will finally get real playing time. Boucher came to Boston to get regular minutes. Minott, Scheierman, Walsh and Gonzalez all have a chance to be in the rotation as well.

If Scheierman's work on his shot mechanics pay dividends, he's going to pop this year IMO.

Pritch and Neemie just based on increased opportunity. I feel like Brown will jump without JT especially as a playmaker but not as much as those two as he's already been pretty damned good during his career. Also, as Darrendaye said, if Baylor's shot falls he could surprise people.

I think Queta for sure…partly due to opportunity. I think Minott and Walsh also take a step…but for those two it depends on opportunity a bit.

Queta, White, PP, Garza in that order.

If White gets much better he is all NBA….I am excited to see that.

He’s had a couple of really strong stretches the past couple years when one of JT/JB (well it could have been mainly JB) so we will see if he can replicate it.

For a couple of months I think he can and quite possibly will but can he sustain a leap is the question rather than can he make one for me.

I voted Queta and one of Minott, Scheierman, or Walsh.

We know what Brown, White and Pritchard can give us.

I'm rooting for everyone on the team, especially Queta, Garza, Baylor and Minott. If Simons is on the team still, I will be cheering him on as well.

Tough to know.

I think Brown, White and Pritchard will increase their output. I am hoping Hauser, Queta and Simons (if he is in Boston) all step up their games in different ways.

I think between Garza, Minott, Scheierman, Gonzalez and Walsh at least one of them will be a major surprise. I think it will be Minott but we will see.

My breakout players:

Payton could average 20 pts this year but his real breakout will be his playmaking
Neemi Queta is going to make the most of his opportunity and vindicate his believers and surprise his skeptics
Max Shulga will seperate himself as the breakout "under-25" prospect out of the young G/F group (Walsh, Minott, Gonzalez, Shulga)

Pritchard, White, Simons and JB have already had their breakout season. Those 4 should all be excluded from consideration.

And Boucher is 32 yrs old..guys that old don't have a breakout season. They pretty much only decline..

I'd say probably either Baylor, Queta, Minott or Garza..

Queta smoothly knocking down that in-game 3 adds a little more sizzle to that steak.

Queta could be in the conversation for potentially having the biggest breakout season league-wide, not just talking about the Celtics.

Excited to see what he does this season.

Same. I felt he was our best big last season, just didn't get the minutes that were given to Al, KP and Luke.

Agreed on White and Brown. Not agreed on the others. All they've really proven is that they're legit starters. If one of them played like an all-star, that would be a breakout.

That said, I wouldn't give either of them more than a 10-20% chance of that kind of breakout. There's an argument that Pritchard's chances are higher than that, but I'd counter by saying opposing coaches could gameplan against him a lot more than they seemingly have so far.

IMHO Pritchard has considerably more breaking out to do. He's unguardable in the open floor or on the perimeter, With his handles he gets where he wants to get and he can drain shots from anywhere. Steph Curry lite.

Right. If he lives up to that potential even facing the greater defensive attention that will surely ensue, it will be a breakout.

Keeping up his highly energetic and somewhat effective defensive play -- despite new offensive responsibilities -- would be part of the breakout too.

I want people around the league who said our bigs were worse in the league to look like they don't know what they are talking about.
Let's go Queta and Garza!!

I think Garza has a chance to be dangerous. He was college player of the year. You don't do that without skills and confidence. He is also a hard worker. Tillman should be solid too.

I'm still hoping at least one of James Young or RJ Hunter has a breakout season.
