Sabonis to Charlotte
If Sabonis asks out or Sacramento wants to pull the chute Charlotte is a good candidate, especially mid season if they’re over 500

Sabonis and Ball can be a discount version of Jokic Murray skillset wise. Miller and Kon have a ton of potential and the collective playmaking of Ball and Sabonis can really open up the game for them

Re: Sabonis to Charlotte
Kings fans will hate it, because they think Sabonis is a star. If one team is a good fit for Sabonis though, it's Charlotte. Sabonis best fit is on a team trying to make the play-in.
The only thing the Kings are getting of value in this is those 2 firsts. They could probably get a little more value.

I think we would need grants physicality next to sabonis.
He's often used as a throw in, but Charlotte value him

That team would give up 130 a night.

In fairness, they might anyway.

OP has no reason stated for Sac. Guess why that is? Kings hang up. Two crappy firsts and poop platter for an all nba level guy.

Re: Sabonis to Charlotte
Charlotte owes value.
Their defense might be terrible, but this makes them an actual competitive team. You have to actually pay for that.
Would guess it should include Sexton or Bridges as salary instead of Grant and another first or two. Then CLT just tries to build a defense around Ball/Miller/Sabonis. Wouldn’t be easy, but if you do it you’re probably a home seed..

If he wants out why Charlotte? Whether we like it or not, its not currently the Kings direction. And not enough value

How about this
Salaun (bad rookie year, but still a #6 pick and still 3 cheap years
Sexton (maybe to a 3rd team?)
JGreen
2026 Char pick, top 4 protected
Dallas and Miami pick

Sac would need a centerpiece but Char won’t offer one which means they’re going to have to dish out a lot of picks.
Salaun/Grant/Sexton/Diabeta/26 unprotected/Dallas and Miami/29 pick that’s not theirs/2-3 seconds (Char has multiple years with multiple seconds)
Remember, Sac has no need for another SG. Sexton is only here for expiring, he brings no other value to Sac and the market for his archetype isn’t good currently so there’s likely not much value out there from a third team. The Dallas and Miami picks are so-so as is the 29. Char would have to go quantity.

I do not think any team will offer an unprotected 26 1st for a non top 10 player (except Dumars, who....traded away two) unless they are basically guaranteed to be in the playoffs.

But that’s the scenario here. Kings are blah and Char is showing life at the deadline. Char adds Sabonis as part of a playoff push.

Sure, a playoff push, and yet they still are far from being a guaranteed playoff team. They should not offer their 2026 1st. Given their track record, they probably shouldnt offer any of their own firsts, ever.

That’s the only possible centerpiece and odds are it won’t turn out even top ten. The other three picks are blah first rounders in years where Char still has their own picks, same for the seconds. Chat leaves this deal with only one season without a first and that’s over right away. By summer they have their core and a full slate of all their future picks. Have to give up something to get something.

I kinda think a volume package is what will be available for Sabonis. Teams - including Utah with Lauri before we extended him - have tried to get deals with nice centerpieces for non superstars and it just doesn't happen.

Re: Sabonis to Charlotte
I don't like this as a kings fan at all. If this is all that is out there for Sabonis I would rather keep him. This isn't a good package at all. Those picks are likely trash. Grant is only wanted if he were to be playing beside Sabonis, otherwise we would be looking for a strong younger piece. Green is filler and so is Salaun.
Why do the kings do this? I don't think that there is a good answer for that question in this trade proposal.
The kings would be better off looking for a deal that provides one really good prospect even if we have to take on some bad salary to do it.

I generally agree. This is a quantity trade, which is only if there isn’t a quality trade available. If Sac had to go quantity getting four firsts and two-three seconds with some expiring money isn’t awful. Kings could take those picks, the Minny pick and if needed a protected one of their own and make an offer for a disgruntled star.

This isn't even a decent volume package, the kings get late firsts and nothing else that a rebuilding team would want. If the kings did get a 4 pick package that is atleast worth considering, but this trade isn't. Honestly it is really close to the same package that the OP was sending the kings in another proposal for Monk with CHA getting Kuminga.

Re: Sabonis to Charlotte
As a hornets fan I have less than zero interest in Sabonis. He has never shown that he can get a team past the middle and he is getting very expensive.
If Sabonis is one of your top two players, the other guy better be prime Lebron if you want to compete.
I like him at 25 mil. At 46 mil he is a bad contract.
