I’ll say this and then leave the topic alone. My little sis plays ball professionally, so between playing against her and some of her comrades over the years I like to think that gives me a qualified perspective. People vastly underestimate their skills. I’ve never lost a game 1v1 against my sis, I’m faster, stronger, bigger, and that all comes into play. Taking out the head up aspect and focusing on skill alone, oh she can shoot my lights out - and I’m no scrub. Its absolutely not a push to think someone like Bam couldn’t pick up a few things from Aja, you give him her offensive skills with his athleticism and you get KG.
To speak seriously for a moment, if you ever actually got to witness the skill set of a professional player in practice, they all look like KG (the ones that aren’t strictly 7 foot plus only there for height, anyways). What separates these guys is their ability to do it against competition, and make snap decisions, not their ability to hit jumpers or make nice post moves in an empty gym. Nobody is saying female players can’t be skilled, but the assumption that they’re more skilled than a Bam because they can do things against competition that doesn’t even compare to high school mens teams is wild. I’m with 3ammy on this one, you guys are wildly underrating Bam if you don’t think he’d dominate a skills competition in an empty arena. I’d go so far as to say Bam is so skilled as a big that that’s where a lot of some fans frustrations with him lie, because they can see potential for more.

The conversation was about Aja Wilson and Bam Adebayo. The fact that you keep bringing it back to all men and all women is where you continue to confuse yourself.
No one is saying Bam is not skilled or that he's some type of garbage man. The assertion--again, a completely non-controversial one for those who have watched a lot of both of them and aren't a paid Bam fan or otherwise agenda'd--was that Aja is more skilled. The things she is more skilled at were even listed.

Why we as Heat fans are pushing a narrative that Bam isn’t skilled is beyond me. He is quite literally one of the most skilled and versatile bigs in the league and has been for several years now. Comparing him to his girlfriend is just dumb and lazy. Aja is a great basketball player (for a girl) and she is obviously skilled (for a girl). Hell, she may be the best woman’s basketball player ever, she has an insane resume but Bam would skunk her if he really wanted to. It’s also dumb to compare the 2 because as you said she’s playing against other women and she has a significantly bigger advantage in her size and athleticism compared to her competition than Bam does as well. She’s a monster of a woman.
I’ve been telling you **** on Bam is the popular thing to do on here majority of the time, you’re seeing a little bit of it these last few pages and I’m sure it’ll pick up as we get into the season. I guess everyone is still mad about his early season struggles after the busy summer.
The Miami Heat have started their 2025-26 season training camp roster preparations, with reports in August 2025 detailing which players are expected to participate and who has recently joined. Notable attendees include established players like Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, alongside new additions such as Vlad Goldin and Ethan Thompson, who was recently signed to a training camp contract

Your ability to talk down to every poster on this board is impressive. That aside, the point stands, if you placed them in an empty gym, Bam's easily more skilled. You don't see it because you don't watch Bam in an empty gym, you watch him in NBA games competing against other men that are doing everything in their power to stop him from displaying those skills. I'd bet 10 grand if they did a skills competition between the two, on Bam, easily.

Bam is a 6'9"-6-10" center that can bring the ball up the court to initiate the offense without Shaqing a fool every play, and folks try to act like he aint skilled. MOST bigs can't do half the things he can on offense or defense.
I do admit that the MVP/DPOY of the WNBA can teach Bam a couple moves or things. But its in the same way your coach or an retired player can teach you stuff. Head to head, she aint whooping him. He's too big, strong, and fast. Its like if prime Shaq played to 21 against Jordan.

Flirts with 20-10-5 every night one way or another while being the best defender in the league and people want to act like he’s “Clint Capela, Tristan Thompson, Joel Anthony” etc. and like he just has 0 offensive game.
It’s a PPG thing imo, it’s the easiest stat to understand and it’s and easy barometer to the casual fan in trying to determine how good a player is.
I saw a pretty eye opening fact the other day. 12 players have averaged 24-10 while being on an all defense team (not even taking into account the playmaking, 11 of those 12 were MVPs and the other was AD. Bam isn’t an MVP level player but he is a damn good elite player and he’s recognized as so around the league.
Nikola Jovic said he was motivated to perform well in the Serbia-Slovenia exhibition game because his Miami Heat head coach, Erik Spoelstra, "perhaps the best coach in the world," traveled all the way to see him.
In an exhibition game featuring two of the best basketball players in the world—Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic—Nikola Jovic stole the show. He finished as the leading scorer with 18 points (7/8 2PT, 1/2 3PT, 1/1 FT) and grabbed seven rebounds in 19 minutes.
