Bisaccia is considered a good coach and yet our special teams continue to be below average, as they've been under several ST coaches. Better decisions need to be made on ST personnel. It's not a ST coaching issue.

I hope they can get Amar Johnson back on the PS. He's got some juice, and I think he'd be a nice developmental back to replace Brooks/Wilson when the time comes.

With Hardman & Simmons cut, the Pack are even more likely to be in the running for the youngest team in the NFL for the 3rd year running.

Go Pack Go.

He's just not a good football player. Crazy athlete and abilities but doesn't have the mindset.

Lot of guys like him have come before, more will come after ... will test physically off the charts, but if you cannot read/react and have natural instinct on the field, all of the physical traits are really irrelevant.

By comparison, is this part of the worry with Quay? Gifted athlete, but has often struggled with anticipation.[/quote]
Quay is a way better football player. I think his struggles came mainly from learning how to play MIKE linebacker a position he didn't even play in college. Last year he got better as the season went on and he and Coop gave the SB champs all they could handle in that playoff game.

Simmons is an even worse version of Quay. Worth taking a flier on but ultimately not surprising it didn't work out.

There's 2 types of successful LBs, either you have to be a killer and crave physical contact or you're a crazy athlete with great instincts. Simmons is a great athlete with no instincts and he's not physical. It's so frustrating to watch because he has all the measurables and athletic ability you want.

He was a safety in college. It was always going to be a longshot to have him play closer to the line.

Wonder if the Packers make another trade for a 3rd string QB.

Reported cuts so far:
https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/green-bay-packers-news/69842/green-bay-packers-roster-cuts-tracker-2025-news-updates-and-rumors

Here’s the latest news on the Packers’ releases.

Reported Packers Cuts

QB Taylor Elgersma (reported by Tom Silverstein)
QB Sean Clifford (reported by Bill Huber)
RB Tyrion Davis-Price (reported by Easton Butler)
RB Israel Abanikanda (reported by Bill Huber)
RB Amar Johnson (reported by Bill Huber)
WR Kawaan Baker (announced by team)
WR Cornelius Johnson (reported by Ryan Wood)
WR Isaiah Neyor (reported by Easton Butler)
WR Mecole Hardman (reported by Jordan Schultz)

The release of Hardman likely means that Jayden Reed and Keisean Nixon will be the Packers’ primary punt returners this season. With Hardman out of the picture, there’s a good chance that Malik Heath, a key contributor on special teams as a non-returner, will make the roster as the team’s sixth receiver.

WR Julian Hicks (reported by Bill Huber)
WR Will Sheppard (reported by Bill Huber)
TE Johnny Lumpkin (reported by Rob Demovsky)
TE Messiah Swinson (reported by Bill Huber)
OL Trey Hill (reported by Ryan Wood)
OL J.J. Lippe (reported by Rob Demovsky)
OL Tyler Cooper (reported by Easton Butler)
OL Brant Banks (reported by Ryan Wood)
OL Lecitus Smith (reported by Bill Huber)
OL Kadeem Telfort (reported by Bill Huber)

The trade for Kinnard probably marked the end of Telfort’s chances on the 53-man roster. He was still featured on a few 53-man roster projections, but much less frequently after the trade.

DE Deslin Alexandre (reported by Ryan Wood)
DT James Ester (reported by Easton Butler)
DT Devontee O’Malley (reported by Easton Butler)
LB Isaiah Simmons (reported by Matt Zenitz)

This is a pretty big one. If Simmons didn’t make the team, this probably means that the Packers are only keeping five linebackers. Kristian Welch, who was released from the roster at cutdowns last year, probably made the team.

LB Jamon Johnson (reported by Aaron Wilson)
CB Tyron Herring (reported by Easton Butler)
S Jaylin Simpson (reported by Ryan Wood)
K Mark McNamee (reported by Easton Butler)

Packers Roster Count: 65

Pretty much no surprises so far and honestly can't think of any bubble guys I'd be shocked at us cutting, so I don't know what that says about my feelings on the roster depth this year.

Granted I'm not a big tape guy, but I've never seen someone as a lost as Simmons was this preseason whenever he had to carry that middle zone.

Hardman didn't do anything in the preseason was a net negative with his muff. If you are signed to be a potential return specialist that is literally the one thing you cant do if you want to make the team.

This one is a bit stunning. King was awesome in pre-season. I’m guessing only playing slot hindered him since we have Bullard.

Agreed - Thought he did quite well for himself in pre-season. I'm sure another team will scoop him up, but hopefully we can get him on PS.

I don't think King is any good, he ran 4.6 at the combine and he's small and not very physical. He didn't perform well at Senior bowl and didn't really show much in last year's TC. He was better this year but reality is he would get eaten alive vs real competition.

He's always been a bubble guy because of his size but thought he put some good football on tape this pre-season. He got better from last year, but probably not quite enough to make the 53 and he doesn't do anything on special teams.

Now that Hardman is gone, Malik Willis needs to just accept 6 as his new number and give Golden 2.
