Means nothing if he’s absolutely terrible, just sayin. The former top lotto pick hype is played out these days

this. If Salaun had been the 46th pick last year, and had the exact season he had, he would never have been converted off of a two-way contract, waived, nobody would've picked him up, and he would have gone right back to France already. There was nothing remotely appealing in his game, and the only reason he will get his year 3 option picked up is because Jeff Peterson isn't bailing on his first ever draft pick this soon. He is legitimately a negative value piece imo.

He's up to 41.7% 3pt percentage on 2.2 shots per game this past season. He's not a shot blocker or great defender, but put him on a team with a good defender at the PF and SF and he could really shine. Memphis jumps out at me they have JJJ at the PF, give them a good defender at SF who can shoot the 3 they look pretty good. Which all brings me to would I want to keep Morant on that team.

I think the Hornets could trade for Domas but they'll have to put up more than this OP.

I loved the Memphis fit, I thought it made a lot of sense prior to the Bane trade. A 3 team deal where Bane goes elsewhere, Sabonis to Memphis, and 3rd team gives assets to Sac. It still works 2 team deal now, but Memphis seems like they aren't that excited to spend on this core. The vibe I got was Morant/JJJ + Cheap young guys around them, shoot for playoffs but not a real contender.

Aldama, GG, KCP make the same amount as Sabonis. Add a few picks they got from Orlando and I'd strongly consider that from Sac POV.

Morant - Coward - Wells - JJJ - Sabonis
Pippen - Jerome - Vince Jr - Clarke - Edey

Still gives Memphis a good bit of depth, and Id say you couldn't find a better fit to incorporate Sabonis into. Perfect fit in JJJ, Sabonis played well with Fox/Monk so should translate to the Memphis style.

Sac should want Pippen and Edey. Orlando picks are that valuable (assuming in the next few years).

I personally like GG/Aldama more than Edey/Pippen. Pippen is nice, and maybe on another team as a full time starter he takes a leap, but it feels like you'd still be searching for an upgrade. With Schroder, I don't feel the need to add another guy like that, we have a good stop gap until we can add a star at that positon through the draft. Edey is another one of those guys that doesn't feel like an above average starter, so he'd be a stop gap which I'm not interested in. These 2 feel like you want to try and fill in gaps around LaVine/DeRozan, which to me is a non-starter.

Aldama is 24, has size, can shoot, and feels like a plug and play in almost any team, but he has some untapped upside on a new team IMO. Maxime also projects a lot like Aldama, it would be great to have 2 7' floor spacers off the bench. GG had a great 1st year, has good size and defense for the 4 spot which the Kings have massively lacked, hes the lotto ticket IMO.

As for the Magic picks. I don't think Sabonis is massively valuable. He has his flaws, needs the right team and is on a huge contract. Aldama/GG/2-3 Magic 1sts would be a solid solid haul.

“Aren’t”. Haha.

This comes down to ones belief in GG. If Sac thinks he is a stud…ok. Not great but the market is tough and if it is combined with moving on from LaVine, I could see it. But it isn’t a value for value trade.
