About time. Should have never been drafted in the first place.
Did Mazi make the roster??

I don't know yet. I heard Jerry likes Mazi and wants to give him another chance.

Extremely light in the DB room. But that’s how bad Blackmon has been, he was basically viewed as just a special teams guy at this point.
With that said, I do think they’re hoping they can go with more late round picks to get Thielen, instead of having to give up a 4th round pick for him.
how concerned should we be that our secondary is going to be early 2000s level bad?

Haha be very concerned. Outside of Murphy and an aging Harrison, it’s really really rough. Rodgers and Okudah are the other DBs that will get a ton of snaps. Rodgers is a career backup and Okudah has graded out to be one of the worst DBs since he’s been in the league. And we’re replacing Bynum with a career special teams guy.
Allen and Hargrave really need to stay healthy and play like their peak selves if we don’t want to see a huge regression for the defense. As long as the front 7 can provide plenty of pressure and allow the DBs to play their soft zone, we should be fine. But if that front 7 struggles to create pressure, the secondary will get picked apart.
This is one of the big issues of the horrible drafting. Our roster is very old and we have zero depth all throughout the lineup. If everyone stays healthy, we should be good, but damn we’re old and our depth is rough to look at

2024: JJ McCarthy, Dallas Turner, Khyree Jackson (RIP)
I wanted to take a look myself. Outside of Addison, you're right, It's not great. In his first 2 drafts, they had a total of 16 picks, but only 4 remain on the roster.
It's kind of astonishing how many guys/picks they've traded.
Btw I totally forgot that Khyree Jackson was killed last year (rip). Auto accident. What a bummer.
Yup as of right now Addison has been the only good pick. And to be honest, that pick was kind of just handed to them. WR depth was a massive need and Addison was the last WR left with a 1st round grade and was the 4th straight WR taken at the time. So that was more of a, hey he’s the last one left, no one else to take.
But ya 4 drafts in, 3 starters (essentially 2 rookies so we don’t know how they will turn out). And 2 rotation guys in Nailor who is just flat out awful and only playing because we’ve had no WR depth and Turner who couldn’t beat out Patrick Jones last year.
This really is as bad of a start as you can get as a GM and drafting. And again none of this is mentioning the fact they had Kyle freaking Hamilton sitting there at 12. Decides to trade down to get a different safety, with a division rival, they get freaking Jameson Williams and we trade down to get Lewis Cine. That move alone will always having me wanting Kwesi fired
2022 was about as bad as you can get, but 2024 is still a lot of unknown. Everyone is still on the roster from 2024 (except Khyree of course), and obviously the success of McCarthy will be a huge part of how that draft is perceived.
I don’t have too high of hopes for Turner if I’m being honest. But ya the 2024 draft really just is going you fall on how JJ turns out. If he ends up hitting, no one will care if Turner never becomes a star or everyday starter.
But at some point, some of these middle round picks need to hit at some point and not just have them all turn into special team guys

JJ seems like the ideal modern QB. He is mobile and very accurate medium to short range. Not sure about his long ball but I’d be surprised if he’s not better than Darnold who can’t play in big games (no offense Jack)

Not Deuce!!! Jerry is cold-blooded.
Yea pretty much everyone saw that coming. He’s just too small. I was a little surprised they cut Traeshon Holden. They didn’t need to keep 6 WR’s though.
