Wonder who gets dropped to make room

Evan Anderson. Hopefully he can get on the PS but I doubt he makes it through

Evan Anderson waived to make room for Jefferson. Hopefully he makes it to the PS. Anderson isn't great, but he was solid last year and it's a position with so much uncertainty.

PS updates coming in. Still a few more spots. Shocked Gage hasn't been signed to the PS.

Ignore. Basically re-posted the same thing twice.

No Jeff Wilson is a bit of a surprise. No RB's at all is notable.

I guess they feel comfortable with where Robinson is currently at, and his feel for the system.

Bourne would be a welcomed addition to possibly help ease the early season pinch there is going to be at WR.

Bourne was Jennings before Jennings was Jennings. Granted, JJ is more talented just overall a better player.

9ers could certainly do worse adding a guy this late for basically no cost. Just his familiarity with the system alone, should allow him to provide a handful of meaningful snaps in the early weeks.

Great STs player. Good in coverage. Questions about his play against the run, though my sense is (and I think the grading supports) that he was somewhat improved in that area in preseason. I had hoped to keep him on the PS, but LB is one of the few very deep positions on the team. Hard to keep a STs player over depth at positions of real uncertainty.

Report is that the team will re-sign Russell Gage. No surprise there. He'll presumably be the #2 WR for the first part of the season and they'll elevate Chosen, too.

This is going to sound crazy, but given that our LT is 37, our RT is a FA next year, and our top backup OT is probably better at OG and is in also a FA next year, it would be awfully nice to add an OT or two to the PS....

Now they're reporting MVS to the PS. That's interesting. Guess he thought (almost certainly correctly) that he'd have a better chance to see the field on our PS vs. the Hawks.

The Hawks aren't very deep at WR. Outside of JSN & Kupp, there aren't a ton of proven guys. But MVS had a very lackluster camp for them. Because he's known as a one trick pony type of player, there just wasn't a spot for him. Tory Horton (Rookie) basically outplayed him & took his spot on the roster. They preferred guys who could play on special teams & are known as better blockers (Jake Bobo, Dareke Young, etc.).

Do you like get a ping anytime someone posts about the Hawks on these boards?

Yeah, I'm not expecting big receiving stats from MVS. But Kyle loves to run clearing routes, so presumably we'll see that. Will be interesting to see how teams respond with their defense. A go-ball 20+ yards down the sideline is arguably Purdy's worst throw, so not sure how successfully that would draw safety attention. That said, you can't just let a guy go open deep.

Yes.

MVS kind of is who he is. Sure, he can run a nine route. But he's somewhat limited as a player.

Yeah, which is why it was kind of a surprise we went after him. That's not a big part of our offense. But Cowing and Watkins are our speedy guys, and both are hurt, so we do need a guy with the wheels to keep the defense honest. Gage had good speed back in 2020, but that's some time ago and he's dealt with major injuries since. Robinson and Chosen were closer to 4.6 guys coming out.

Report is Jennings wants $20 million per year.If true, Jennings is not worth that. Let him holdout and not get paid. He is really hurting himself and the team

Yeah, that is top 25 WR money. I don't think you can even rank Jennings in the top 50. Nobody is game planing around Jennings, or rolling coverages over to him.

Jaun is gamer, clutch as hell, and a lot of what he provides doesn't show up in the box scores namely being a high end blocker. But he just flat out isn't worth $20 mil/season.

I'll miss 3rd & Jauan, but just bring Bourne back for relative peanuts and let Jennings hang out to dry.

Yeah, there's just no way. I really like Jennings. He's maximized his talent, he's a beast out there blocking on the edge and running with the ball in his hands. But he doesn't get much separation. He's not worth that kind of money, and I don't think he'd get it on the open market. I would have considered giving him a couple million more this year, but if he's looking for multiple years at that rate, the team is handling this situation correctly. If he struggles this year, he's only hurting himself. Well, he's hurting the Niners, too, but he'll feel it.

Evan Anderson to the PS, and we finally (!) added an OT - Kilian Zierer from Germany. Counts as the foreign player exception. So you know he's a legit OT prospect.
