Dal-Chi-Mia

Post#1 » by pipfan » Tue Aug 26, 2025 6:53 pm

Not sure what the value of Klay and Marshall is, but does this make sense?

Vuc/CWhite to Dallas
Naj Marshall/Klay T to Miami
Rozier/Gafford/Dallas 2026 #1 to Chi

Miami is always win now-they get two rotation pieces for Rozier. They're both expiring in 2026-27, so they could be trade chips next summer?

Dallas gets a very good 25 year old combo guard, to grow with Flagg and Lively. Vuc is a very good back up C, who pairs well with AD. Plus, Dallas saves about $5 million (and much more in lux tax)

Bulls stay young and build for the future. They hope Dallas misses the playoffs (shouldn't but could in the West)

Giddey/TJones/JCarter
Okoro/Ayo/Rozier
Matas/Huerter/Terry
Pwill/Noa/Phillips
Gafford/Collins/JSmith
Next year they would have Giddey/Jones/Okoro/Matas/PWill/Noa/Gafford/JSmith/their own 2026 1st (hopefully top 8)/Dallas 2026 1st (hopefully late lotto) and A LOT of cap space plus the Port pick to play with. Gafford would be a good center for Giddey

To start, there has to be some protections on that pick. Dallas is in real danger of not making the playoffs and maybe lotto lightning can strike twice?

Dallas does move off quite a bit of salary making paying White doable after this season, but he probably sees himself as a starter and he wouldn't be that Dallas once Kyrie returns. Can they sell him on the long track record of high level 6th men in Dallas?

I do like Vucevic as a different kind of center they currently lack.

I'd probably do this and hope Martin and Christie are ready for meaningful playing time and Flagg is NBA starter level from the jump.

My guess is Miami doesn't see enough value in Marshall/Thompson to do their part so I think you have to kick them out or Chicago has to pay them to take on the future money(Miami is a team that can attract star free agents). And as Chicago appears to make out too well here either fix seems appropriate.

Dallas isnt trading an unprotected first and Gaff for an expiring WHite and the empty stats President Vuc. This trade is looking at Chi's needs more than anyone else

For Chi, the best I'd do is top 4 protected (and pray lotto luck doesn't strike again for the Mavs). There has to be upside to the pick-White is a very good player.

Like I said, Miami might not value Marshall/Klay and pass. But, I think they'd both help them win this season MUCH more than Rozier. The East is pretty open, so Miami could make a run with some better depth
Maybe the Bulls send the Port pick to Miami, and they send JJJ to Chicago? Saves Miami some $

Dallas can’t actually trade their 2026 first since CLT owes the 2027.

The Bulls need the pick for certain for taking on Rozier at what $18M for a 3rd stringer at best, especially since they still have Carter. I don't see how they stay young, Gafford has had a pretty long career after leaving CHI.

It's not a very good Bulls lineup, I don't see where Okoro has put up any kind of numbers to start, as a rookie he started every game, 32 minutes and only 9.6 PPG for his best year. For all the hatred heaped on Patrick Williams he's averaged 10 ppg twice and never less than 9.0. I'm much more inclined to start Huerter at the SG, Williams at the SF and hope they can be shooting threats with the departure of leading scorer Coby White and #2 Vucevic because Gafford's range remains 3 feet and in.

I like getting the pick and moving Vucevic but this doesn't really seem to help the Bulls in the short term and relies too much on a pair of 2026 picks to be the future

I don't see why we'd take on the money. These aren't difference makers. We're developing our youth which means JJJ and Larsson. If we're sacrificing that and cap space we'd better get more than...meh... I'd rather just buy Terry out than do this...

Miami is the tough part of this deal. I think they'll be a top contender in the East, and this move provides depth for them. Klay/Marshall are very solid bench pieces (that the Bulls don't need).

MAYBE Miami sends Rozier and JJJ to Chi and the Bulls send the Port pick to the Heat?
This would save Miami some $ and JJJ/Marshall are similar players.
The Bulls could use a guy like JJJ in their young core

Let me ask you - if the Bulls could use a young player like JJJ in their young core, and Miami is acquiring Marshall, who you just said are similar players, why wouldn't we just keep JJJ? Furthermore, do you see Marshall or Klay, for that matter, beating out Herro, Powell, or Wiggins for minutes?

Pelle looked solid at the end of last season, but it looked like Spoelstra had lost confidence in Jaquez by midseason and he was out of the rotation in the playoffs. Is he still a development priority?

Honestly, not sure. We have really good wing depth with guys like Powell, Herro, and Wiggins which doesn't leave a lot of minutes for either player, especially as Spo shortens the rotation. I would think both were given a list of things to work on in the off-season and Spo is going to see what they did with it.

Look, the way I see it with Miami's portion of this deal, we have 4 starting level players for 3 spots. That's 144 minutes for Mitchell, Herro, Powell, and Wiggins. That would average out to 36 minutes a night for each player. That's a bit much but adding in one more rotation player at 10 to 15 minutes a game allows us to reduce those minutes down to between 32 to 33 minutes per game. That means we can fit one player like Pelle Larsson, Dru Smith, JJJ, Fontecchio, or God forbid Terry Rozier into the rotation.

Neither Thompson, at this point in his career, nor Marshall are better than Powell, Wiggins, or Herro. This trade represents a huge financial commitment to 4th and 5th wing players, so I really don't see how the Heat fit in all this or why we'd bother. Short of a star player, a starting caliber point guard (which Mitchell may be but he'd be low end, imo), or a 4th big with no financial obligations beyond this year, we need to just let Rozier expire or buy him out.

Maybe I am overrating Klay-is he cooked?

Yes, Miami could be dropped here, and the Bulls look elsewhere.

No one is calling him washed, but tell me where he plays in Miami's rotation? We have Powell, Herro, and Wiggins, all of whom are better than Thompson at this point. Are we going to commit $26 million next year to have a 4th and 5th wing when we could be a cap space team instead?

We literally have 15 minutes in our rotation for another wing player. You don't commit that kind of money for 15 minutes. It's terrible cap management.
