I'm not watching, but they've been going down hill for several years now.

And yet the Spaniards won in 2022. Go figure. Though no Scariolo this time.

Question?
Is this tournament win and advance? Lose and you are done?

No, this is the groups stage, each team plays 5 games, top 2 teams from each group advance to knockouts.

Top 4 teams advance to knockouts from each group.

Qualifications make no sense, they are played in middle of a season and most backbone players from national teams can't even play in those games.
I am with you, too many games do no make it interesting because of the power differences between the teams. Every game mattered in the groups when it was 16 teams. I understand the logic to spread the game, it had worked out for football but most countries are not ready for it.
FIBA needs to accept it's role in basketball and somehow find a way to collobarate especially with Euroleage and NBA. They gave national breaks to the local leagues in football. It's non sense to insist on mid-season qulifiacation games when NBA even Euroleague do not pause for the qualification phase.

Georgia beat Spain in front of 1520 people.
Isreal beat Island in front of 3045.
This is getting ridiculous.

They still had Rudy making timely shots and, of course, Lorenzo Brown. There's no denying Brown carried that team and masked many of its flaws.
Spain has become terrible at developing its own talent. They simply don't develop pros. There's a difference between winning meaningless youth tournaments and actually churning out pro level shooters, ball handlers, scorers etc.
In addition, like I've said before, it's extremely tough to transition to the Spanish 1st league as a young player. Any advantages youth players worked for are lost after even just one season of men's basketball, because they're French, German, Serbian, even Georgian counterparts are getting 15 mpg in a competitive pro league, while the Spaniards either rot on the bench play in their beloved LEB ORO which according to them is "just as good, if not better than other European first leagues, trust me, tío".
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Seems like spanish programs do develop pros, but they got too big for their own good, and teams like Barca and Real do not develop Spanish players, but rather just top talents from all around the globe, domestic talent started to be an afterthought almost. Those teams developed some really good players, but they rarely Spnnish these days.

Just tuned in to Slovenia vs Poland, if I remember correctly, Ponitka out luked Luka in last Eurobasket, I think he had his triple double vs SLovenia if I am not mistaken. Will be interesting to see Luka vs Ponitka again.

Scariolo is still Spain's head coach.

It's amazing how overrated Scariolo has become among fans, because he finished in the top 3 places in the national team tournaments, with the best or second best team.
As soon as he didn't have a top tier team, the good results stopped.
Spain didn't make it out of the group stage at the 2024 Olympics.
Scariolo is just considered an average level coach in EuroLeague. He made a great career move for marketing reasons with the fans, when he took on Spain's job. Now, he's super overrated from people thinking he's some great coach, when he isn't.
He's the most overrated basketball coach by fans ever.

While what you're saying isn't wrong, my impression is that they recruit guys who are top level talents anyway. Still, very few ever crack the rotation of the 1st team. But, given that they're head and shoulders above pretty much all of their peers, it doesn't matter that they're only playing in Spain's 4th division.
MEGA Belgrade is one of the few teams that takes largely unknown players and guys who were rejected by other teams and then turns them into pros. Jokic, Zubac, Bitadze, Luwawu-Cabarrot etc. weren't highly sought after before they joined MEGA. In fact JoVic wasn't even on Serbian youth national teams before he joined them.
Ulm is somewhat comparable in how they get players ready one year ahead of the draft. But, similar to Madrid and Barcelona, those are usually guys who are already on most NBA radars and mock drafts.

Luka with Slovenia reminds me of Dirk playing for Germany. These teams would struggle to beat the likes of Cyprus and Croatia without that one all time great star player.

Sad thing is, those German teams were still a lot better than this Slovenian team right now. At least they had some centers, Slovenia has 1 tall guy and he can barely dunk lol.

Jordan Loyd's shooting form is poetry.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.
