This was good.
Felt Thibs didn't deserve to be fired as he did a lot for the organization and is a very good coach, but understands that the FO might want/need to try something different, especially a coach who is more in line with Mikal and OG, names that he mentioned.
That Thibs adjusted to Randle getting hurt two years ago by running Brunson off more screens than anyone in the NBA other than Klay Thompson that year. So Thibs can adjust.
More about minutes distribution than total minutes, that the Knicks should explore different lineups and that data as opposed to chasing every last win.
Jent is the primary offensive coach.
Knicks will seemingly hire two more coaches, one an analytics guy and maybe another.
I could see the analytics guy, I guess, but feels like they have a sh*t ton of coaches already.
We have so many coaches nobody can keep track of them, but remember - it's only Dolan's Dollars, not real money (cap space).
AI to the rescue! The New York Knicks, under new head coach Mike Brown, have recently made several changes and additions to their assistant coaching staff in the 2025 offseason.
Recent hirings and key staff appointments include:
Chris Jent: Hired as the associate head coach and offensive coordinator. He previously coached the Charlotte Hornets to a Summer League title and worked with Brown in Cleveland. Jent will replace Rick Brunson as the associate head coach, though Brunson will remain on staff in a reduced role.
Brendan O'Connor: Hired to coordinate the defense. He previously worked for the Los Angeles Clippers and has a relationship with Knicks executive William Wesley.
T.J. Saint: Added as an assistant coach, expected to help with offensive strategy. Saint was previously the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans' G-League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron, which had the league's top offense in 2023-24.
Charles Allen: Hired as a player development assistant. He worked with Mike Brown during their time with the Sacramento Kings.
Riccardo Fois: Added as a player development coach. He also previously worked with Brown in Sacramento and was with the Phoenix Suns before that.
The Knicks have also retained several members of the previous coaching staff under Tom Thibodeau, including Rick Brunson, Maurice Cheeks, and Darren Erman. However, Rick Brunson's role has been reduced. Additionally, the Knicks parted ways with assistants Daniel Brady, Andy Greer, Othella Harrington, Dice Yoshimoto, and Nick Thibodeau.
8 Assistants and counting!

I have no problem with that at all, because all my wants were accomplished. Now, I get to watch a Thib-less team, life is good.
