Malcolm Brogdon Draws Interest From Warriors, Knicks, Wolves

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Aug 28, 2025 9:19 pm

Malcolm Brogdon has attracted interest from the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves as teams navigate roster decisions and luxury tax considerations in the extended free agency period.

The Warriors' pursuit of Brogdon remains tied to their ongoing restricted free agent stalemate with Jonathan Kuminga. Golden State's interest level will become clearer once they resolve Kuminga's situation and complete anticipated signings.

The Warriors are expected to sign Al Horford, De'Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II, and second-round pick Will Richard pending roster clarity. These moves have been delayed by the Kuminga negotiations and luxury tax implications.

The Knicks and Timberwolves have also placed Brogdon on their radar during the extended free agency period. Both organizations are among the teams simultaneously monitoring Malik Beasley's availability following his cleared federal investigation.

Minnesota faces additional roster complications as they work through financial details for re-signing Bones Hyland. The Timberwolves are actively negotiating terms to retain the guard while managing salary cap constraints.

Brogdon's market remains fluid as teams await resolution of other roster moves before making concrete offers. Brogdon is coming off his two-year, $45 million contract extension signed with the Indiana Pacers during the 2021 offseason. Brogdon was traded to the Boston Celtics in 2022 and then to the Portland Trail Blazers in 2023. Brogdon spent last season with the Washington Wizards.

Respectable player, great leader, and a great locker room guy, but the only issue he doesn't stay healthy.

It almost seems like he's stealing money at this point. He desperately needs to put up a solid season of games played (sounds funny to say) for the sake of his career

Sadly true

1. He's not a star, compared to many of the other leaders in missed time.

2. The bulk of his missed games came in the last 2 seasons.
He's missed 197 since and including the bubble season, but >100 of those came in the last 2 seasons.
Before that, he missed <20 games during 3 of the 4 prior seasons.

Regular season games missed since the bubble year:
Wall = 398
Isaac = 298
Lonzo = 284
Zion = 258
DRose = 213
Klay = 205
Kyrie = 201
Brogdon = 197
Kawhi = 196
KD = 190
Embiid = 179
Murray = 174
PG13 = 168
Simmons = 167
Porzingis = 157
AD = 151

Brogdon availability is bad.

Its crazy to see this list, something is definitely up when you realize these guys are all pretty much stars or close to it. They are all definitely players making big money for the most part. One can almost jump to the conclusion that there isn't much insensitive to play all season when you already secured the bag. I'm sure some of these guys are genuinely hurt but I'm also sure some of these have milked it a bit longer than needed
