Re: 2025 WNBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
You know, for a team that's been constantly in win-now mode the last few years, who hasn't picked in the top 5 since 2016, the young talent on the Sun roster is pretty good
Shame we don't have our pick this year, though.

That does suck. Awa Fam would have looked good in a Sun uni.
At least with that pick, Mabrey is helping Saniya "adjust well" to the W.
Still got 2 late 1st's though. The young talent coming up is so deep that you can get great talent at the end of the 1st.

The announcers almost sound bored with how easily Nneka hit that game winner lol.
This might be stupid, but I think Nneka is a dark horse to make All-WNBA.
Phee, A'ja, and AT are obviously locks. I think Allisha is too.
I'd expect the last spot to go to Sabrina or Paige if it's a guard (both Kelsey's making a case too).
But if it's 4 bigs, there's a case for Nneka. Won't happen, but there's a case.
If Stewie hadn't missed so much time, personally, I'd think it should be her. I don't give a **** what her 3P shooting percentage is, she's one of the 5 best players in the league.
Is that controversial?
I agree with your locks (including Allisha), but after that it feels wide open. There are no positional restrictions, and I don't personally think it should be a guard.
We also have so much parity this year after the Lynx (mostly due to injuries, unfortunately). The Lynx are 6 games up on the next best team(s), then the 7 teams under them all fit in a 6.5 game range. I don't see Sabrina as having separated herself from the guard pack. I think you could go a lot of different ways, with a lot of guards deserving votes.
Yes, Stewie is near MVP-level with or without strong 3-point shooting.

It's definitely crazy wide open for that 5th spot.
I'd love to see Nneka get it Almost 35 YO having one of the best seasons of her amazing career, especially considering the jump in 3P volume maintaining her always stellar efficiency.
Just seems like she's unlikely (though I don't have any evidence to think that). If the Storm miss the Playoffs or just keep petering out like they have been, it seems really unlikely.
If NY gets their ish together down the stretch, I could see it going whoever is hotter between Stewie and Sabrina (though Sabrina would have to get red hot. the team falling apart without Stewie isn't a good look for Sabrina's All-W case).
Fever also have a pair with a right to be in the conversation with Boston and Mitchell.
If the Sparks somehow sneak into the Playoffs, Plum has a case (or Hamby for that matter. love Hamby).
There's cases for a lot of other people too (won't happen, but I could get behind a Veronica Burton bid).
With so many possible candidates, I could easily see Paige taking the last spot with a couple of big games down the stretch.
Wouldn't have a problem with any of these. It seems like there are 10 or so worthy candidates for that 5th spot.

Re: 2025 WNBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
Leila Lacan has gone off the last 2 games
Back to back 22 point games, on 15 and 14 FGA respectively
She's so good. She's tied for 8th in total steals, yet has 561 total minutes. The only other player in the top 10 with less than 1000 minutes is Saniya Rivers, who has 926
It's a shame she couldn't join the team sooner, but she's awesome, I can't wait to see what she can do next year after a full offseason with the team.

Watching what all these French players are doing in the W, Americans might one day look back at that one point win in 2024 fondly.

Skylar!
Storm could very easily miss the playoffs.
But if they make it, that's not a fun matchup for the Lynx, or anybody

Re: 2025 WNBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
Seattle has the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.
This may sound crazy but there's a world where Seattle is the best team in the league.
They don't look like it too often but the second half of this game is one of those times.
They are absolutely abusing Minnesota right now. Lynx have no answers.
Lynx have lost some games this year but I'm not sure anybody's done this to them.

Being up 50 points won't make Cheryl pull the starters, but Seattle got her to do it with a minute left.

Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

The crazy thing is, the young French player with the highest ceiling is still just a teenager
Dominique Malonga is gonna be 23 for the 2028 Olympics. She's still really raw, but give it 3 years and she'll be absurd
Both men's and women's basketball, France has lowkey crept up on us. I mean, we'll have Paige, CC, Juju, etc in 3 years, but still. France has some players.
