Red Sox and Yankees are both hot, and both have easy peasy series coming up

It’s tough, but need to take 2/3 to keep some distance

Jays have their best starters going, and bullpen is reset after off day. Need 2/3

NYY and BOS will likely sweep this weekend against their garbage opponents

2 out of 3 is necessary to delay the collapse

This guy claims that Eloy Jimenez has signed a minor league deal with Toronto. Not that its a significant move anyway, and I don't see a path to the major leagues this year even as a right hand bat, but mildly interesting I suppose.

Read on Twitter

Might have been more of a chance had he signed in early August and showed something beyond what he was in 2024 (bad hitter, bad fielder)

When we expand to 14, would think Loperfido and then Santander later in September take roster spots, so not sure where the room is for this guy in mid-September even if he shows something.

He had a promising start to his career in his early 20's and like many White Sox of that era just lost it by mid to late 20's,

Brewers have hit a bit of a cold streak, and the Jays this season have been doing better against >500 teams than the cellar dwellers.

This is a winnable series, and a great time to make sure we keep our foot on the gas for the home stretch.

Lets do this.

Peralta is one of the top 5 starters in the NL as well.

We are going against 3 good starters this weekend, with probably the 3 we would line up in a playoff series. And probably the 3 the Brewers would go with as well.

Peralta (16-6, 2.66) vs Bieber
Preister (11-2, 3.44) vs Gausman
Woodruff (5-1, 3.10) vs Scherzer

I would love to win 2 of 3, but I'm willing to accept 1 if the games are all competitive and the bullpen gets its collective head out of its ass.

Milwaukee might be even colder than we are right now. This is a very winnable series.

Now I'm curious... in the 28 seasons since Interleague play began, how many times have the top NL and AL team (at the time of their games) played each other?

I can't imagine it's terribly many times, honestly.

A big part of it is there used to be many less interleague games and they were always done before September. There was about 15-20 interleague games total.. now it’s 45. There used to be “inter league” weeks or weekends where games were only interleague and these were not done in September. Iwould say it’s only last 5-10 years where interleague games are more spread over entire season, and I’m thinking it’s only around 5 years where teams play everybody and # of games really ramped up.

That's correct. And given that - at any given time - there's only ~2 teams in the MLB who are leading their League, and schedules are made a year in advance, then for any given Interleague game, there's only ~0.5% chance that both teams involved will be leading their league.

Like I said, I can't imagine it's happened terrible often.

We have *1* player (Gimenez) in our starting lineup who has a sub .750 OPS. That's absurd.

Looks like Tony will be back in about a 7-10 days. If he looks even decent in Buffalo he needs to start against lefties. He can take basically all of Frances abs for all i care too lol

We need his power badly. If he looks good the last few weeks, I think he will start in the playoffs.

Both France and Barger can have a seat on the bench, if Santander looks decent in Buffalo. Besides his big hit two nights ago, Barger is 7 for his last 50 and has been terrible for nearly three weeks. Cannot understand why he is still hitting Number 2 in the lineup right now.
