Speaking of names, Mažutis, 180 cm at best, who played in Eurobasket'09 translates as Little, and first name of Tubelis means "Oak"

Any other Eurobasket players have names or surnames that can double as nicknames?

I hope we (Serbia) lose one in the group stages, just to awaken the team a little bit. Bogdanovic's injury is a huge concern, it's gonna be an uphill battle in the later stages without him.
And yeah, looks like it was a mistake to bring Micic instead of Topic. The ego - ability disparity of Micic is amazing. What a bum.

Making up even more lies?

Maybe you should first check if Ukraine and Hungary are in Eurobasket, before continuing? Then check how the qualifications *actually* work, instead of sprouting your lies in the public?

Croatia didn't qualify because they are not good enough, it really is that simple. Neither did Ukraine, or Hungary, or Denmark, or Luxembourg, or San Marino, etc etc. No need for lies or folio-hats.

I made mistake about who is hosting and who applied for hosting, that's why i mentioned Ukraine and Hungary. My mistake for not checking actual tournament participation.

Regardless, Croatia didn't qualify for same reason Slovenia didn't qualify for WC in 2019 after winning Eurobasket in 2017, because during qualification period they were without Dragic and Doncic. Matter of fact, during qualifications for WC 19, Slovenia went 1-5

I'm well aware how qualifications work. They are set in middle of regular seasons so teams can't count on NBA players and portion of Euroleague top players. Meaning, team that needs to secure his national team spot in tournament is whole different team than one that will be at tournament.

For big countries with huge pool of talent, with strong domestic leagues like Spain, it's no problem. But smaller countries that rely on several players to make difference, it's huge problem. This is nothing new, in 2022 Latvia didn't qualify because they sucked in 4th stage of qualifications.

But here is interesting data:
Latvia lost to Greece and failed to qualify to EB 2022, this are Greece players from qualifications:
-Dimitrios Katsivelis- wasn't at main tournament
- Linos Chrysikopoulos- wasn't at main tournament
- Christos Saloustros - wasn't at main tournament
. Margaritis - wasn't at main tournament
- Papadakis - wasn't at main tournament
- Nikolaos Chougkaz - wasn't at main tournament
-Vassilis Mouratos - wasn't at main tournament
- Georgios Tsalmpouris - wasn't at main tournament
Ioannis Kouzeloglou - wasn't at main tournament

And you can't see travisty of qualifications in such fashion ? Team that makes through qualification is often100% different basketball team than one that is sent to play at main tournament. How is this fair to:

1) players who are part of qualifications
2) teams that don't have 30 elite men for basketball
3) smaller countries all together, who are very top heavy, but very talented at the top?

Mažutis had perfect name. One of our best Tennis players is named Berankis, which ironically means ''a man without arms'' I guess the literal translation would be.
Ilgauskas had a good names, because it sounds a lot like word ilgas, which means ''long'', and yeah, that man was long indeed, he was not mažutis.

I guess we have name Miroslavas, do we? It is definitely slavic name, but I think lithuanian could be Miroslavas. We definitely have villlage named Miroslavas in South of Lithuania.

I think he could be one of the worst contracts in Euroleague, Hapoel overpaid like crazy. He is getting older, and his best years by far came under Ataman, and like every guard plays 150% to his abilities under Atamas, that man unleashes his guards.

Who is worst contract in Euroleague now? Is it Willy?

Thanks for the clarification. I was quoting (freely translatin) a book we have in the bookshelf (roughly translating "The etymology of Finnish names". While I have basic understanding of latin (I completed a basic course back in the University), I have no clue of any slavic languages (I know "kurwa" from polish, but that usually doesn't seem to help a lot).

Also Obst... Man, that guy is a killer. They need to switch on Obst, like come on, I do not care if you Birutis, you still have to switch.

I know he's somewhat limited but i'm surprised no NBA team ever gave him a call.

Yeah, the guy is perfect role player. But they never even tried signing Jaycee Carroll, and that guy was even better than Obst. Most NBA front offices do not know anyone outside NBA, they sign EUroleague MVP here and there just cause they get to hear of that guy trough basic media.

This is probably the highest quality game so far in the tournament, both teams look pretty elite, tho Germans have the edge for sure. Lithuania has 16 assists already, including 7 from Sedekerskis... Both teams shoot lights out from 3.

Third worst perimeter guy off the bench, it is not that huge of a problem, we aren't saying he would start and play 35 minutes a game. Dude, guys like Merill play in the NBA...

He started this game guarding Jokubaitis, while Dennis was saved on off ball palyer. Jokubaitis caught fire when Obst sit on the bench.

Giedraitis -16, Theis has 20 EFF, but is -2 for Germans interestingly enough.

No, but he is 6'4 and not know for defense per se.

He's not 6'4. Nowadays shooters have to defend too. Good D and average shooting is better combination than good shooting and bad D.
