Chi gets MPorter Jr
Chi trades PWill, Vuc, Port pick, not sure but maybe their 2026 1st (lotto protected, becomes a 2nd)
Brk trades MPorter Jr
Brk gets PWill, Kuminga, Bulls 2026 1st (lotto protected)
GS trades Kuminga
GS gets Vuc/Port pick
I don't know how the BYC works. I also think this is too much for my Bulls to give up (even if it's fair-PWill's deal is bad and long)
GS needs a C and Vuc is expiring/productive/available nightly
BRK needs young talent, adds another pick
Chi gets an upgrade and improves their team, while dropping PWill's long deal
White/Jones/Ayo
Giddey/Okoro/Ayo
Matas/Huerter/Terry
MPJ/Phillips/Noa
Collins/JSmith/Noa
The pick would have to have good protection
This deal could also be just BRK/Chi. BRK could keep Vuc to start the year, and deal him to someone on need of a C

Re: Pieces of a Deal-not sure how to make it work (if it could)
This comes into the same problem as many other JK S&T deals - it hard caps the Warriors at the 1st apron which causes roster building problems that the return isn't worth dealing with (and I personally hate the idea of Vuc on the Warriors.
I also don't think that Chicago should be trading any of their own 1st round picks (other than a trade up in the draft or for a key young player). They're payroll is low enough that Pat Williams contract isn't hurting them that much anyways (they need more talent before it becomes a problem).

Horford is waiting for the kuminga situation to work itself out, he's basically signed.
They have a bigger need for a wing than another C.

GS is good with Horford and Post with Draymond at C. The Vuc ship has long since sailed.

Sounds good-how about just Chi/BRK, and the Nets decide what to do with Vuc. They get the Port pick and the Bulls' 2026 1st (lotto protected, then 2 seconds)

There's no reason for the Bulls to give up a pick to move on from Vucevic, if there were teams would have lined up and made a deal a year or more ago. He's going to expire after the season, yeah I know NO DEFENSE, but it's not like he's a useless player or some kind of malcontent. They have to get that $21.5M back, even if that would be expiring contracts they're in the same position they would be with him except they have no FRP.

The guy the Warriors should want here is Porter. Is there a way to get the math to work with Kuminga + Moody/Hield and keep the flexibility to still sign Horford et al?

Vuc is making about $21.5 million next season, so BYC rules say Kuminga would have to be paid $43 million. That seems unlikely. Also, the Warriors would have to send out other contracts to make it work. I don’t think Vuc is worth it.

You're right that BYC will be an issue, but not to that extent. With matching rules for salaries in that range, GSW can take on roughly $8.5MM more than their outgoing cap value. That would make it $13MM outgoing on a contract starting at $26MM; CHI could make that a declining contract, 3y for $70.2MM by my math. Now the deal may not work for other reasons, but the money isn't terribly complicated as a one-for-one deal.

I actually think Vucevic is still a nice fit for Golden State and having Horford + Post shouldn't stop them from getting him. Kuminga isn't a fit, he wants out, and he doesn't have a ton of value. If they can get Vucevic, the Portland pick, and maybe a second or two, or some kind of additional player swap that gets them some marginal value, they should do it (e.g., if they thought Moody for Ayo was a value add, not sure it is, but just an example).
The other players they could target that make a ton of sense from Chicago are Zach Collins and Jalen Smith. They just have stretch 5s that can help Golden State with depth. Smith + Ayo is probably easier to work under the cap and fills some gaps for Golden State, but it doesn't resolve the Vucevic situation in Chicago.
Horford/Smith/Post
Green/Smith/Moody
Butler/Moody/Santos
Heild/Dosunmu/Podz
Curry/Podz/Dosunmu
I don't hate that rotation.

Adding Vuc as shown means no Horford. A deal with Smith to GS and Ayo dumped on a 3rd team to avoid hard-capping GS at the 1st apron would be reasonable - but logistically would have been much easier 2 months ago when teams league-wide had more flexibility. Now GS and JK are going to be together one way or another for at least the 1st half of the season.
