Arch Manning had a pretty poor debut as Texas' QB yesterday.

The Michigan QB Underwood looks like a star. Makes it look easy. Always a sign.
This WR for Miami looks like the cheetah. Kid is so wide open. No one can stay with him. Toney.
Will be interesting to see if Bama sucks. FSU is def better. LSU looks legit too. Buckeyes D is scary. ND looks like they don’t have a QB.

FSU is better but they are still terrible. I don't think they'll win more than 6 games this year because Norvell sucks as a coach.

While I disagree, the point is largely irrelevant. Norvell has ceded play calling to Gus Malzahn who is one of the true offensive geniuses of college football. FSU's arrow is pointing up.

As a UofM fan, I was giddey (pun sorta intended) watching him. UofM lost too many good guys to contend this season. Good to give him experience this season rather than redshirting him.

He’s tough and gamer but can’t really throw it. Broken coverage was their biggest play. He’s like Riley last year but nearly as good at throwing.

Re: Bears 12.0
We are really gonna have the same exact discussions again a year later about a running back in round 1 over Left tackle and EDGE? And yes, why wouldn’t we have the same exact discussions again a year later considering what usually happens. Left Tackle and EDGE are afterthoughts in Chicago at the top of any draft. Yes, the Bears main targets may have been picked before #10 this year. But focusing on a RB again misses the needs. Hell, safety would even be a better idea than picking a round 1 RB most likely, considering Brisker.

the whole defense put the bears defense on another level. for a single fluke regular season. and even that wouldn't be particularly memorable if trubisky hadn't been a freaking pro bowler (speaking of flukes)
mack kept on being great. the defense as a whole certainly didn't
Their defensive regression had nothing to do with not being able to afford players and everything to do with this dude getting a HC job.
They lost Adrian Amos and Bryce Callahan in FA. Losing the best DC we've had in my lifetime was far greater of a loss.
I would say its an equal toss up between him and Ron Rivera. Those were both devastating DC losses and immediately showed on the field.
Its extra refreshing that, on the offense side, we never have to worry about that with BJ, because BJ is the OC. His official "OC" is just a figurehead

certainly a big part of the decline. my overriding point was that it wasn't khalil mack sweeping everyone onto his coattails. everything came together for a brief period of time. including having an elite DC and rising young talent
the timing was bad on top of the bad logic of draft picks on top of new contract. pace was gambling that trubisky was the real deal despite coming off a very unimpressive rookie campaign. trying the same thing w/ an elite prospect in caleb williams and a potentially great new HC coming off 5 wins would only be LESS stupid
Yep. i still don't like the douple-dip on a non-QB, but atleast its a gamble the Packers can make a case for. The Packers are a proven good playoff team, with a proven young QB. We did the Mack trade while having neither, which made it extra stupid.

EDGE, LT and Safety are priorities over a RB. I totally agree.

Ben J with a very short presser. Not much info.
- Named Braxton as starting LT, said he's been improving the last couple of weeks, knows what he's doing...
- Named the captains; Byard, Jarrett, Caleb, Thuney and Cairo plus one other captain each week.
- Didn't commit to saying Jaylon will be playing, just said he's improving. my take: Really no reason to give Minny any head's up on JJ and he'll be listed as questionable when injury list comes out later in the week.

TGibson (1/28/17); "..."a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 for drama"...What's the worst? "...yelling matches with Thibs, everybody is just going crazy and I'm just sitting there...like, 'Don't call my name please..."

Re: Bears 12.0
Interesting that two guys who are new to the team this year- Thuney and Jarrett, are named captains. Somewhat surprising Kmet wasn't made one, or possibly DJ or either Gordon or Brisker- guys with longer tenures.

Can't wait for that hypotetical game changing LT or Edge in the 20's then, sorry for being hyped on a guy for 2 years.

You gotta win more than 7 games to pick in the 20s.

It's not like Poles hasn't been trying. Braxton Jones grades out as an average LT. We spent a high pick on a right tackle, and bunch of money on LG, RG, and center. We also spent a 2nd round pick this year and 3rd last year at the tackle position.
On defense, we spent a high second on Sweat, a second this year on Turner, a second a few years ago on Dexter, we added Billings, Jarrett and Dayo.
You can argue that Loveland and Rome and Burden were luxury picks, and maybe there's some truth to that, but it's the offense that's been last in the league, not the defense, and it's been the passing attack in particular that's sucked. So hard to argue with adding a bunch of promising playmakers.
