How about a simple solution? Portland trades the unprotected 2028 Orlando first for their own pick in return?

Why for Chicago - are guaranteed to get a first and will know when
Why for Portland - gain the freedom of getting all their own future picks to trade

In all likelihood both picks end up in the 15 - 30 range. Portland´s probably closer to 15 and Orlando´s closer to 20 but a lot can happen in three seasons.

Portland's pick back for the worst 2029 first [Bucks/Celtics/Blazers]?

Washington is getting the middle pick of the 3. If Bulls would take the worst of the 3 -> they would be guaranteed a 1st... it just wouldn't have the potential upside of the Orlando pick.

Bulls' fan-I would LOVE to swap the Port pick for the Orl '28 1st. Not sure what Chicago could add to make it more enticing? Would Port be interested in Phillips?

The fact that the Orl pick is unprotected makes it clearly more valuable than the Port pick, even though there's a good chance the Orl pick is later in the 1st round.

As for the worst of Bucks/Blazers/Celtics-for that I'd pass. One of those teams will be around #28. I think there's a good chance Port sneaks into the playoffs in the next 3 years

They are heavily incentivized to make playoffs otherwise they could lose their 2028 swap with milwaukee, which is potentially post giannis

They will still get a swap in 2028 if they don’t convey the first, it just only exists if their pick is in the lottery as well.

I doubt the Blazers want to find themselves in a situation where they are intentionally missing the playoffs 3 seasons from now. That is more reason to have incentive to make the playoffs the next 2 seasons.

They didn’t trade for Jrue’s contract in order to lose games. I understand that.

But if you fast forward and have missed the playoffs the next two years and Giannis is in ”Brooklyn”.. I just think the team would be smart to bow out of the play-in chase..
