Rules say clearly

Clarification: players like LeBron James or Jason Kidd whose first clubs were Cavs/Dallas but won a ring in their second iteration with the club, are still ineligible.

I definitely get not wanting to skip the first pick from a utilitarian perspective, though my view has always been that it's up to people to read the rules of the draft they are signing up for.

Not my draft though, and this has been discussed in the past and the ruling has always been that an invalid pick is not skipped unless the clock has run out.
