Manchester City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain for approximately $35 million while Ederson has joined Fenerbahce in a $16 million deal, according to multiple sources.

Donnarumma arrives on a contract through 2030 with an option for an additional year. The Italy international replaces Ederson, who spent seven seasons as City\'s first-choice goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper was omitted from PSG\'s European Super Cup squad against Tottenham in August. Manager Luis Enrique had indicated the club wanted a \"different goalkeeping profile\" after signing Lucas Chevalier from Lille.

City now possess four goalkeepers with James Trafford, Stefan Ortega, and Marcus Bettinelli remaining on the roster. Trafford joined from Burnley in July as the expected long-term successor to Ederson.

Donnarumma Brings Championship Experience

The Italian keeper played a crucial role in PSG\'s Champions League triumph last season, saving two penalties against Liverpool in the round of 16. He made 161 appearances for PSG since joining from AC Milan in 2021, recording 56 clean sheets.

Donnarumma captained Italy to the European Championship in 2021, earning Player of the Tournament honors. He has made 74 senior international appearances since debuting at age 17 in 2017.

Ederson Era Ends After Seven Successful Years

Ederson departs City after 372 appearances and 168 clean sheets since joining from Benfica for $47 million in 2017. He won six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League during his tenure.

\"These are always difficult decisions to make,\" Luis Enrique said regarding Donnarumma\'s PSG departure. \"He\'s one of the best players in his position, without a doubt. He\'s even better as a person.\"

The goalkeeper changes represent City\'s second major summer investment in a position previously considered stable.
