Thunder Heat the Mavs up - involves a Wiggins

Post#1 » by daoneandonly » Tue Sep 2, 2025 1:56 pm

OKC gets: Jaime Jaquez Jr
Mia gets: Naji Marshall
Dallas gets: Aaron Wiggins

I have no idea what the valuation of the other JJJ is, so if it's low or meh, then I'll concede this is DOA. But if his rookie year was any indication, there is a quality NBA rotation guy there. He would provide OKC with a bit more size, which is just about the only thing they are lacking. With Topic coming on board OKC can afford to lose one of its talented guards. He's also cheaper for the next 2 years. Naji just screams Heat culture to me and could fit well with their core of Herro-Powell-Wiggins-Bam. Dallas gets a much-needed guard who quite honestly, is better than any other option on their team, not named Kyrie Irving.

i think marshall and JJJ is probably close in value, but wiggins is a tier above them

I think PJ for Wiggins is closer

That's fair, and I do have WIggins higher than the other 2. I wouldnt do PJ for him, not that it would be unreasonable, but I just think PJ brings intangibles and is the true tone setter and leader of the Mavs locker room.

Dallas owes OKC a decent amount imo.

And Miami probably doesn’t want to go over the tax for Naji. But I think the value is fine for them and they could dump Simone later..

I think PJ/Wiggins is a decent trade for Dallas, but I’d hope they only do it if they know what they are trading Klay for.

But why would they if they don't have to? Is Marshall a difference maker compared to JJJ? Maybe he's a little better but not enough that they should leave themselves in a position to potentially pay the tax unless they dump a guy.

It seems to me Miami should hang into the young guy and see what he can do with another year of development rather than upgrading in such a limited and limiting way...

Kinda where I'm at. I think for all three teams they might just shrug and be like "we're fine with our guy." Dallas would be in on this trade but they'd have to pay more, as jay said, and they probably don't want to.

OP's interesting but I don't think the incentive is there.
