Why is Kirk going to 3rd there

Great hit by Kirk, but WTF was he doing going for third there.
I hate players running like morons after they get a hit as if they are entitled to run like idiots because they did something good (and it seems like most of the players in the league at times). Just really annoys me, and I'm sure you can see a handful of similar rants by me when it happened this year.

This Reds staff that is realy short handed has to be made to EARN every out the normal way. Can't give them easy outs.

The moment I saw Kirk rounding 2B I knew he was going to be out. Not sure what he was thinking, but big hit there to clear the bases.

I saw the same thing.. he had rounded 2nd base by about 10 feet, and you see the ball getting relayed into home plate from the second base area just over his head. I was like there is no freaking way he makes it -- I was surprised it was that close.

Obviously, he’s trying to make it to 3rd with 1 out. A very valuable outcome if possible. Not “acting like a moron”, but a pretty heady decision. Kid is probably our smartest decision-maker. Too bad he ran out of gas.

These long layoffs (for a starter) I find work against you more often than for you.

Might need 18 runs minimum to win this one

We needed Berrios to have a good showing, but a couple of hits and a walk on 30+ pitches isn't exactly a great start. Hopefully he can turn it around and give us at least 5 innings without imploding.

So if I try to steal home because its worth one extra run, and we agree that extra run is valuable, does it make it a pretty heady decision?

He was guilty of dumbass baserunning. Simple as that. It's not really a direct shot at Kirk - it seems to happen to many runners at times after they get a hit. I don't know if its the adrenaline rush after getting a hit and seeing the ball then move across the field in atypical directions that leads to the dumbassery.

Why is our #2 hitter Bunting with a guy on 3rd and 1 out? Lmao

Edit: at least Vladdy picked up that run, Bo got a few more.

Another bloop (Vlad) and a blast!

My nickname for Vladdy is literally “bloop” at this point

Anyway, lots of things to be happy about in this game, then my focusing on one fairly common baserunning gaffe.

Let's keep it coming - bang up this Reds bullpen for Wednesday's game as well.
Good to see many runs coming in for Berrios.
