Re: 2025 49ers Season
Starting off on a weird foot. We released Russell Gage and are promoting MVS to the active roster. Gage isn't subject to waivers, so I'm assuming it's something he and the team have discussed. Still an odd thing. I have Gage as our #2 WR this week, though MVS is probably going to play the X role.

Maybe MVS came to us and said other teams were talking about signing him from the practice squad and wanted to give us a shot? I would assume they made an agreement with Gage that he will would be called up the first game from the PS

Jennings and Puni limited practice, but both expected to play Sunday.

Gross-Matos did not practice, apparently. Setback trying to come back from his injury? Let's hope not. When he played last year, he was a presence rushing from the inside. Too bad it didn't happen much.

I feel 10x better about our receivers going into week 1 than I did a week ago.
Looking like we will go with;

My biggest concern heading into week one is the lack of snaps for key rookies and starters and hoe sharp they will be

Yeah, we need a big game from our DL, which means relying on a bunch of fairly unproven players. Have to stop the run and disrupt Darnold.

I see a lot of blitz's coming from Saleh, I think he knows Darnold can't handle the pressure very wel

Glad they gave him a bit of a bump to keep him happy and reward him for a good year last season.
No way I'd extend him for his asking price though but at least for this season we won't have a disgruntled player.

Offensively I think they'll be fine since pretty much everyone has at least a year of the offense under their belt. I expect the typical early season jank that offenses around the league experience but I suspect they won't have issues getting rolling offensively.
Defensively is the concern and even if the rookies weren't injured there were going to be growing pains. The injuries are just going to make the growth for the defense slower.
Though I'm bullish on the defense with Saleh leading the charge I just see it as one of those situations where the defense will take strides throughout the season and round things out at the end.
So the key this year will be to survive early and hopefully win enough to get a playoff spot where they can potentially make some noise once they get in.

They can't afford to sink that much money in the WR position. I agree Jennings is not worth that much. But he did the right thing for his own career, The right move for him was to play and put up some good numbers while Aiyuk is out to show other teams he is worth a big contract.

And then I read this. I am a bits surprised they are even working on this which means both sides are talking although it is hard to see it happening if Kawakami's story has any merit.

If Superman is the Man of Steel, CMC is closer to the Man of Kleenex. And sadly, the trend becomes more unlikely to reverse itself as he ages.
