IND - SAC (Sabonis Back to Indy)
------------------------------
IND GETS: Domantas Sabonis & Keon Ellis
IND GIVES: Andrew Nembhard, Bennedict Mathurin, Jarace Walker, & Jay Huff
WHY FOR IND? With the Pacers losing Turner for nothing, it leaves a noticeable hole at the C spot. Sabonis addresses that issue while also being a good complementary fit next to Siakam. A Haliburton (when healthy), Siakam, and Sabonis trio would be very solid and could keep Indy relevant for awhile. They also pickup one of the best 3&D players in the game in Keon Ellis who can replace Nembhard's defense, but he's also a deadly spot up shooter. It doesn't get much better than having Ellis and Nesmith as your role players around your star talent.
PG - Haliburton (hurt) / McConnell / Jones
SG - Ellis / Sheppard
SF - Nesmith / Furphy
PF - Siakam / Toppin
C - Sabonis / Jackson / Wiseman
------------------------------
SAC GETS: Andrew Nembhard, Bennedict Mathurin, Jarace Walker, & Jay Huff
SAC GIVES: Domantas Sabonis & Keon Ellis
WHY FOR SAC? The Kings move off of their star player to get younger and move towards a rebuild/retool. They get "PG of the future" and a couple of young guys with some potential to see if they can continue developing into something special. The season would be pretty clunky with the other vets on the roster, but the core going forward would really be Nembhard, Carter, Clifford, Mathurin, Murray, Walker, & Raynaud. Plus they still have all of their own 1st round draft picks and two more from other teams (SAS & MIN) to further add to their new core.
PG - Nembhard / Schroder / Carter
SG - LaVine / Monk / Clifford / Davis
SF - DeRozan / Mathurin / McDermott
PF - Murray / Walker / Jones / Saric
C - Huff / Raynaud / Eubanks

Sacramento backcourt is too crowded as is.
I actually think Sacramento asks for Siakam (they should) and try to figure out a C.

I don't think the Pacers can have 3 contracts in the $45 plus million range and stay out of the tax. Plus on this is they don't have to worry about signing Mathurin or Walker, but then there is no real youngsters that might come along and make an impact in a year or 2, unless they get lucky in the draft in the 20-25 range.
One point for the Kings to consider Mathurin is about 6'4 1/2'' maybe not really a SF.

That might make more sense financially for the Pacers would that be 1 for 1 or would anyone be adding value?

Teams with aspirations of contention shouldn't have interest in Sabonis. He's one of those flawed player types who puts a ceiling on your team.

Re: IND - SAC (Sabonis Back to Indy)
I think Sabonis is NOT the best fit with Siakam. I've maintained that for years, going back to when Indy employed Sabonis and was looking for a PF. Add in the lack of rim protection from Sabonis (though his body/man defense is workable), and the fact that Carlisle has already proven that he DOES NOT WANT a center to handle the ball at all, and I think that Sabonis's value is mitigated in Indy. He's just not a fit, though he's maybe the best player possibly available to fill that gaping hole at center? Personally, I would LOVE Sabonis. His quick passing and screening would seem a great fit for the Indy offense, even if it slows the offense down a bit when he trails (but doesn't provide a volume 3 point shooting threat) or holds the ball for screen/motion passes at the top of the key. But, I just think that Carlisle won't want him, as he already de-emphasized Sabonis's strengths when he had him in Indy.
But, also, I think Indy would view the inclusion of Andrew Nembhard for Sabonis, even if it could be straight up, as too much to pay. Haliburton, Siakam, and Nesmith got a ton of shine in this past playoffs, but the key is Andrew Nembhard. To Indy, he's a "star".

No I don’t like this. Too many guards (already a problem for the Kings) and I’m not about giving away Sabonis for unneeded extras and Ellis is an ideal NBA role player now and not a throw in for potentially lesser players than he will yet be.
If (big IF) we were to move Sabonis, it would be for young potential and picks and money relief. There is literally no reason to trade him otherwise for at least several years. His game will age well and he will likely be even more effective at what he does best as he gets into his early thirties.
Pass.

Re: IND - SAC (Sabonis Back to Indy)
Yeah, it would have to be Pascal based imo. Indy didn’t offer Turner the contract he signed, right? So signing up for Sabonis’ without some real offset seems unlikely.. Losing your quality/cheap depth and adding another max doesn’t seem like a move they’d go for.
For Sac - the depth chart wouldn’t really matter here right? They’d be tanking here.. but if they got Siakam, feels pretty neutral. I think Sabonis helps win more regular season games and that’s what Sac likely cares about.. (I’d rather have Pascal if I were trying to actually win)

I think that Nembhard is probably untradable if you are Indy... specially if the fit is not an easy call. Sabonis did improve his 3pt% but making less than 1 per game, while Siakam himself is hitting 1.6 per game only, spacing would be an issue, even with all the ball handling Sabonis brings to the game.
Money is also tricky going forward so hard to tell

Why is keon in this trade? I might consider the deal without him included, but adding him like he is a throw in is crazy. If we need a small contract to match salary then send out Terrence Davis or Carter. And honestly we need to move Lavine and Derozan before we consider trading for any more guards, otherwise they just get stuck behind those two.

Re: IND - SAC (Sabonis Back to Indy)
Nembhard fits too well with Tyrese to move him and I think we want to see what we have in Huff, Jackson, and Wiseman before we trade for a center. Also, while we won't tank, wins this year aren't as important as seeing what we have with Mathurin, Walker, and Furphy.

Re: IND - SAC (Sabonis Back to Indy)
No way. Sabonis ultimately is an empty calories guy who we already had a run with and moved on. He’s not a fit with the style we play. Nembhard is a bona fide winner; Mathurin poised to have his breakout year; Walker coming along nicely.
