Not good enough.

28 mil fine for Leonard. Suspended for the whole season.

Steve has to sell the team. Suspended for the year.

This is a massive scandal and the only reason people are going to take it lightly is because the clippers suck and Leonard's been basically dog **** for years now.

Make an example out of them this is ridiculous.

I agree with Corey's. If the clips just lose a pick or two in the 20s there will be more players and teams circumventing the cap with "endorsements".

Balmer should be forced to sell. Leonard needs to be suspended without pay until he loses the 28 million.

Gotta make an example out of them.

Clippers are done. Going to be hurting for a long time. Last time with Joe Smith and Minnesota the NBA took 5 first round draft picks away from Minny.

The NBA discovered the illegal under-the-table agreement, voided Smith's deals, took away five first-round draft picks from the Timberwolves, and suspended owner Glen Taylor and GM Kevin McHale. The scandal made Smith a free agent, and the Timberwolves' attempt to acquire him for the future failed, costing them dearly in the long run.

And this is far worse. They gotta sell the team. This is ridiculous.

The integrity of the game is compromised there is no other option but to have everybody involved fired and suspended.

That was Sterns NBA though.

Silver won't do anything crazy.

There's no shot Balmer's forced to sell.

I could see both getting suspended for a yr though.

Silver made the previous owner of the clippers sell the team over a conversation he had in private over some deplorable language.

To not force a owner out who is actively CHEATING and COMPROMISING the integrity of the game would be the kind of lol that drives me away from this product completely.

This is a pretty big deal. When Leonard got there that was considered a massive coup.

This can't go unpunished. And a couple picks in the 20s ain't punishment for landing a star (at the time) player isn't going to persuade anybody from doing this in the future.

So, who owns the Clippers future 1st rd picks??? OKC? Wow...

As for Balmer, he is almost richer than all owners combined. Adam Silver forcing a sale?? hard to see it. Can't wait to see how this unfolds.

After this Clippers fiasco, the NBA has no other recourse but to fire Joe Mazzulla and ban Brad Stevens from the league.

They won’t do anything to paid out or set to be paid picks, right? It will be what they own other than those. No way you can harm a team that isn’t a part of the scam. That would be crazy.

Also, criminals are so dumb. There are many ways to pay someone under the table and it never comes back to you. I’m positive he’s done it before. Okay it’s 28m, but there are ways. You paid it through one company??? You’re asking to get caught! The government is literally set up for the ultra rich to get away with doing scandalous things and money laundering, this is how you get caught?

Insane that you make that much and the do something like this. He should be suspended without pay for the year just for being that dumb.

Google tells me: "Kawhi Leonard, currently with the LA Clippers, has earned a total of $375,772,011 from his NBA contracts over his career as of the start of the 2025-2026 season. This ranks him 8th all-time in NBA career earnings. He is expected to surpass the $400 million mark with his latest contract extension."

That last sentence is probably wrong now, lol.

To give an idea of the scale of Steve Ballmer's wealth, for him $28M dollars is roughly equivalent to $180 for someone who is worth $1M. In other words, $28 million is pocket money.

He does have to be punished because he too was breaking the rules but to be clear I think this is mostly on the owner.

What player is going to turn down the money?

If they don't exile the owner then it's clear it's all a dog and long show and I can take my exit stage left.

I already had a high suspicion with the introduction to gambling that things weren't on the up but when it's out there clear as day owners not olaying by the rules who knows what else these **** are doing.

Id make them void every contract on the team and release all the players back into the NBA pool. (The players keep their money owed to them by the clippers but we don't reward the clippers by allowing them to keep players they otherwise would not of been able to afford had they followed the rules)

It boggles my mind this isn't a big story on ESPN yet.

Here is an excerpt from a CBSSports story that outlines the possible penalties under the current cba

What is the penalty for cap circumvention today?

Fortunately for the Clippers if they are indeed found to have circumvented the salary cap, the punishments for doing so aren't nearly as extreme as they once were. As detailed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the commissioner is authorized to issue the following penalties for cap circumvention:

A fine of up to $4.5 million for a first offense.
A fine of up to $5.5 million for the second and any subsequent offenses.
The forfeiture of one first-round draft pick.
Contracts or transactions that violated league rules can be voided.

Therefore, at least based on the CBA as it is written, the Clippers would not be subject to the same multi-year penalty that crippled the Timberwolves 25 years ago unless they committed multiple violations. For now, Torre has only reported the possible violation involving Leonard.

I think you're being too easy on the player. It's both sides - heck he may have been the one to suggest it.
But, yeah, I think (if true), they decimate the Clippers.

They should force them to trade us Zubac for Simons. That'll show them. 8-)

Silver and the NBA need to investigate this (Clippers-Leonard) thoroughly.
But, let's let everything come out.

If they're guilty, then Adiós. It violates the integrity of the Sport.
Though, I find it hard to believe that they would be so stupid.

I agree.

Investigate then go on from there.

If it's true there was wrong doing then the NBA should penalize the Clippers and to a certain degree, Kawhi Leonard.
