At halftime of the All-Star Game, Kawhi and Ballmer are marched to center court as the crowd erupts in chants of “Shame! Shame! Shame!”
Adam Silver unrolls a scroll and solemnly reads their charges before presenting them to the great and powerful King James, seated on a throne of the replica championship rings he didn't win.

After a dramatic pause, LeBron lowers his thumb—down. The floor opens, and Kawhi and Ballmer vanish through a trap door.

Prison seems unlikely.
There were laws broken probably.
Bans or suspension for each seems probable

I dont see any of those options happening. No one is going to prison or banned from the NBA. I suspect a combination of lost draft capital and a penalty to do with their future salary cap.

How come there's no option for deportation to El Salvador?

Guantanamo Bay is reopened just to house Ballmer and Kawhi

Kawhi gets laughing gas which makes him laugh uncontrollably and Ballmer is stuck in the same room. Tortured for the rest of his life with the sound of Kawhis laugh

Probably has something to do with this

A California man who co-founded and served as board member of a company formerly known as Aspiration Partners, Inc. — a financial technology and sustainability services company — was charged today by criminal information and agreed to plead guilty to defrauding multiple investors and lenders.

“For years, Joseph Sanberg used his position at Aspiration to deceive investors and lenders for his own benefit, causing his victims over $248 million in losses,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti of the Justice Department's Criminal Division. “The Criminal Division is committed to pursuing, charging, and convicting fraudsters like Sanberg, who cause significant harm to their victims and undermine our financial institutions.”

Not saying Ballmer personally had a hand in it, but the thing seems to be a slush fund

Ballmer was an investor in a fraudulent company. That makes him a victim.

Salary cap violations are not a crime. Aspiration paying Kawhi $28M to do nothing not a crime by Kawhi. It is a poor use of money and perhaps criminal fraud by a company whose founder was a Board member owing a fiduciary duty to its investors.

I voted nothing happens to Ballmer or Kawhi. Mark Cuban explained it on Twitter. Ballmer is not this dumb.

I was definitely not expecting these poll options. LOL.

I voted suspensions as they are the closest to reality but I don't think that will happen. Just lost draft picks and maybe a voided contract for Uncle Dennis' client.

I think the fly in the ointment for Balmer is that there are other parties exposed to risk that might be more than willing to throw him under the bus. For NBA purposes, I don't think the bar to meet is necessarily legal culpability anyway. All it takes is someone from one of the other camps to implicate him and the league will have to take some sort of action. IMO.

You obviously don't realize how serious the courts take fraud. I work at a financial institution and I've seen it happen from bottom dwellers all the way up to the senior management and owners. Entire banks have folded due to fraud and seniors have seen jail time.

you could argue that a lot of financial fraud goes completely unchecked even though authorities are likely aware of it. crypto pump and dumps, naked shorting, spreading misinformation, manipulating markets, etc

Absolutely, I'm sure fraud and money laundering is rampant in the country that doesn't get caught. Heck, in my own professional field, I know some of my clients are laundering money but there isn't enough proof to charge them.

I'm just going over the consequences if you do get caught.
