One reason they traded him was he was ahead of the curve on the rebuild. I thought he was worth more but if your object is to get Peterson, Deni's an obstacle.

I liked Deni here; glad he's blowing up even if it isn't for us.

In denial... just admit it.

The risk can't be denied. Sometimes you can outsmart, but not always.
Look at Portland's record last two seasons.

Time to treat this as ancient history.
We can't read yet another "See! Bad!" post after every terrific performance by Deni.

It's just that he had so many good performances.

Bilal had the least PT on the roster.

He fouled out. With Sarr out he was the only real defender. They did stifle Jordan Loyd which has been a tough assignment. But Sarr has been surprisingly critical for France’s defense. They alternate between him and Bilal as primary defenders always keeping one or the other on court.

Btw if you can find a replay Jokic vs Sengun was a great game. Exemplifying what’s great about FIBA play. Worth a watch or a re watch.

France Georgia in a tight contest. Bilal with some kind of thumb issue is playing passive on offense but shutdown D.

Yeah. Bilal Coulibaly 20:04, 0 points on 0/3, 3 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 4 fouls and a +/- of -10. He played a bit of good early D and then not so much.

What I learned from watching his games (in Euro hoops) is that he is another year away. I do expect him to improve off of last season but I don't think he is ready for his breakout - yet (he is only going to be 21).

He does seem to be nicked up as well (like Sarr). I wish he hadn't played Euro ball and had worked on his recovery - but there is still lots of time.

Yeah he was holding his hip and shooting left handed. Walking wounded. Defended well individually but added nothing on offense.

Well with Serbia out and France there are no more Wizards left in Euro play. Still, good experience for Sarr and Coulibaly. Sarr in particular was critical to that team and played well enough to excite anticipation for the coming season. Bilal too still registers as a high level defender despite that his role on offense was minimal for France even before the thumb issue. The work he was doing on his attack game earlier in the summer was never used in FIBA play regardless of the fact that he was often the best pure athlete on court.

Every Wiz player at EuroBasket ended up injured or hobbled, I hope this does not impact their readiness for the up-coming season.

I wonder if the Wizards in their zeal to acquire players with open growth plates consider the increased likelihood that those players will suffer a higher incidence of injuries than physically mature players?
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Yeah, but only for their first couple of seasons until the growth plates close.

Beal was injury prone for his first 4 seasons, but then became an iron man during his prime, missing 5, 0, 0, 7 and 12 games over the next 5 seasons respectively. At one point, he played in 266 out out 268 consecutive games.
