PHI/IND

Post#1 » by mlloyd10 » Thu Sep 4, 2025 2:29 pm

76ers get: Saikam
Pacers get: George/Clippers 2028 1st

Why 76ers - Siakam is the better player, with better timeline with Embiid and Maxey

Why Pacers - Get what could be a very good pick and If they are smart, they use this season as a punt season, but George back where he can retire as a Pacer

this punts more than 1 season for pacers (George has 3 years left). Easy no for Indiana

Yeah, can't add much more here. Those 3 seasons of PG in the locker room would really crush a locker room in example/leadership compared to having Siakam for those same 3 seasons. Plus, this swap this year actually puts Indy into the tax. They could drop under by waiving Bradley and signing a true vet minimum instead, but it'd leave the team perilously close to the tax line to not allow them to truly rotate through that 15th spot.

Just not a consideration right now.

Philly would have to pay more than one first.

Indy doesn’t really tank. But if they did this player swap, they should trade Mathurin as well which could reset the books just enough to help survive PG’s contract.

I don’t think either side really wants a reunion though.

I have looked at potential trades for Siakam, and I think this is the type of framework for Indiana, where they take on a worse player/salary and get some future assets.

I think this deal is missing 2-3 good 1sts, at a minimum. I don't expect Philly to pay that price, there is a chance PG13 can rebound and be better than Tobias Harris.

The deal I like the most is Siakam for Jerami Grant/Prospect/Pick(s). Unsure on the details but that's my favorite version of this from our POV.

Why on earth would Indy do this? George looked horrible last year.

No one is bailing PHI out that cheaply.

If you want to try and find a likely Pacer trade, start with Mathurin. Siakam and Haliburton are as unlikely to be traded as anyone in the Association.

I'm not so sure about that.

Siakam is turning 32 this season. How many more years does he actually have left in his prime at a level near his Peak, 1-3?

3 years is enough for the Haliburton return.

It is, but we don't know the level Haliburton will be in 2026-2027 and we don't know what Siakam will be.

I'm simply saying it is a possiblity we could sell high instead of not selling at all. Is it likely? Probably not. Is it possible? Absolutely.

The realistic scenario is our offense is Bottom 10 without Haliburton, maybe we are 5-10 games below .500 in early January. A team is a Siakam away from being a clear title contender (lots of teams are that close, fyi) and we get a haul.

I wouldn't bet on it, but it is a possibility.

In the west:
Denver - no need/no assets
LAC - no assets
OKC - cant afford
Dallas - stacked at PF
Minnesota - no assets and has randle
Memphis - not a contender even with him, but could use him i guess (JJJ full time C is iffy though)
LAL - no need
Sacramento/SAS/Portland - not a contender even with him
Houston - has too many pf
Gsw - no matching salary

In the East:
Cleveland - dont need him/is already a contender
New York - no good matching salary/no good assets
Orlando - has banchero
Milwaukee - has giannis
Detroit - dont think they are contender with him but he would help alot
Atlanta - has JJJ
Chicago - not a contender
Miami - Maybe? They are not rich in assets though and still have them below the cavs/knicks

I dont see any team that fits your description tbh. Detroit and maybe Miami if they play well by midseason perhaps? East is wide open i suppose

No! George on that contract is 2 #1 picks negative. Siakam is worth 2-3 #1 and matching salary not a bad contract like George!!

This is a terrible offer.

Totally agree. It’s a tough choice to make after going to the Finals, but with Hali out and Turner gone, now would be a great time to flip Siakam if you could get a good young player and/or quality picks.

Memphis getting Pascal is still my favorite. Whether it includes Edey or Memphis wants to keep him as the third big (they should try at least).. Memphis has the assets to get Pascal without using Edey/Coward.

and PG is more negative in Indy than in many other places given he burned bridges here.

I'm sticking with Siakam isn't going anywhere and if we're selling high it will be Mathurin as he may price himself out of the role that's available here.

Yeah, I think that’s up to Ja.. If he’s the superstar some thought/think.. Even without HCA, that team would be really tough to match up against.

But if you wait til January, assuming Indy is struggling to stay in play-in race.. You can match without using KCP, say Aldama, Clarke, Konchar. Even though I’m a big fan of Coward, would be nice to keep KCP around.

I think that PG by himself would cost 2 unprotected picks to dump, Siakam has positive value and is the second best player in a finals team that lost their star at the start of the final game of the season. 29 teams can beat this offer.

PG and 5 first rounders makes it better, but only because Haliburton is out for the year.
