would this be a potential mismanagement of the roster. the way this team has been going, they need the help whereever they can find it.

It's long-term vs short term. It buys us (assuming they don't call him up this month, which WOULD be mismanagement at this point) an extra year of options, and if we don't think he's ready to contribute yet, then it gives him more time to prove himself at AAA.

If they don't think he's ready to contribute in the playoffs, then this is the right call. If they do, then yeah, absolutely the wrong decision.

Got to love the #9 batter drawing a bases loaded walk for the Astros to take a lead!

The Rays are now 2.5 back of the WC spot, terrifying

So much for those games against them not mattering to them

Now back to 4.5 game leads against Boston and New York (adding in the game for the tiebreaker).

Another important consideration for the playoffs, is that while the ideal is #1 in the East (which should get a bye), #2 in the East will result in hosting a playoff series. That is because #3 East, and Seattle or whatever barely over .500 team get the final spot in the AL, will be on the road in round 1.

Giving up runs on a walk, balk, and wild pitch in the same inning is a heck of a trifecta.

Interesting that the final strike call of the game doesn’t appear to be on there.

Jays usually seem to play pretty well in Yankee Stadium. Based on my count, we’re 20-15 there since the start of 2021.

Astros are the worst first place team I've ever seen.

Rays are about to be 2 back

Not only are they going to ruin our season in the last 2 weeks, we are gonna end up playing them in the WC series at this rate

Very close to 0% chance of that. Tampa is 7 games behind New York and Boston entering tonight. If they get in they are the #6 seed, but they have little chance of getting the #5 seed.

Whomever is 2nd and 3rd in the AL East, will play against each other in the first round (4/5 seed matchup)

If we can win the next two series against the Yankees and the Astros, I think that pretty much locks us. Means we'd be at minimum 3 games up on the Yankees (plus tiebreaker) and 4.5 up on the Astros with 16 left to go. And it puts us in a good place to gain a bit on Boston as well.

Oh ****, the Rays are heating up and are just 2 games back of the dumpster fire Mariners. That is not good. We are getting swept if we face them. I'd rather face anyone else.

With tie-breakers considered, we are currently 5.0 games ahead of the Yankees and Red Sox with 19 games to go.

Magic number to clinch a playoff spot is now down to 12.

Rays gonna lose, which is wonderful.
Detroit lost, which is tremendous.
Houston losing which is great.

Probably wanted Seattle to win to gain more separation on Tampa. But M’s are scuffing hard. Oh well. You can’t have everything.

On paper the Mariners look really good, but they’re really slumping.

I was expecting Seattle to take off after acquiring Naylor and Suarez at the deadline, to complement Rodrgiuez, Raleigh, and Arozerena, especially with that rotation.

But they have been middling since the deadline (15-15), although they still seem like a scary team in the playoffs.

If it wasn't for the fact that we play Tampa so much down the stretch (and we want them eliminated before the finale), I would have actually preferred Tampa to catch Seattle.

Arizona choking a 6-1 lead away in a single inning

The collapse is still on?

Huge response from AZ

6-1...to 6-5...now 10-5

Giving up 4 is crap but responding right back with 4 is huge.....for the Jays.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
