Angel Reese Apologizes To Teammates For Critical Comments

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Sep 4, 2025 5:58 am

Angel Reese apologized to her Chicago Sky teammates for critical comments she made during an interview with the Chicago Tribune on Wednesday.

"I'm not settling for the same s--- we did this year," Reese originally told the outlet. "We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That's a non-negotiable for me. I'm willing and wanting to play with the best. And however I can help to get the best here, that's what I'm going to do this offseason.

"So it's going to be very, very important this offseason to make sure we attract the best of the best because we can't settle for what we have this year."

The Sky are currently 10-30 on the season and have the second-worst record in the WNBA.

Reese offered the apology following the Sky's 88-64 win over the Connecticut Sun.

"I probably am frustrated [with] myself right now," Reese said after the win. "I think the language is taken out of context. I really didn't intentionally mean to put down my teammates, because they've been through this with me throughout the whole year. They've busted their ass, just like I've busted my ass. They've showed up for me through thick and thin, and in the locker room when nobody could see anything.

"So, I want to apologize to my teammates, which I already have about the article and how it was misconstrued about what was said. And I just have to be better with my language. Because I know it's not the message, it's the messenger. And understanding what I say can be taken any kind of way. So, I just have to really be better and grow from this."

Sky coach Tyler Marsh, who Reese was also critical of, said that the issue was handled in the locker room between the players before the game.

"That will stay between me and Angel," Marsh said. "But I think that everyone had their opportunities to speak. And we'll leave it at that."

Reese is averaging 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds on the season.

The Sky are 3-15 since the All-Star break.

I don’t really watch or care for the wnba but since yall wanna talk about another league let me chime in.
When your franchise player (don’t know if Reese is the best in the team but she’s definitely the face) is the equivalent of Andre Drummond then what do you expect?
I wish yall would stop trying to force the wnba down my throat. I don’t even watch the ncaa and yall ain’t forcing ncaa news down my throat. So what’s with the feminist agenda?

I'm wondering how we can construe Angel's comments in a better way - seems like she was just very clear that her teammates suck.

The only good thing about the WNBA is the comic relief.

This isn’t as good as the blooper videos where they can’t even make a layup, but it’ll suffice for now.

i understand your point and im anything but a fan of wokewashing, shoving down agendas our throats, etc. im with you on that. but i think in this case i would actually have to defend the wnba on this.

1st its in the best interest of the NBA to promote the WNBA because they are paying for it. The WNBA needs to stand on their own feet. Second of all, the quality of the WNBA has gotten better, of course its far from the men's game, we dont need to argue about that, it will never reach that level, we all know that. But i think its fair to promote it and maybe they actually get some new fans by doing that, because they have drama and personalities in their league. And lastly this is equality, we putting them on full display and whatever the results are, thats what they have to live with. they wanted this exposure, if still barely anyone cares in a couple years, theres no argument to be made, that they get held down. Im rooting for the WNBA, i can appreciate it for what it is. im not watching many games and im not super invested, but i think they deserve a fair shot (with a little bit of funding help) and we gonna see what the results are.

its funny tho how they treat players very differently in the nba and the wnba. Draymond can suckerpunch a teammate, gets rewarded with a contract and reese speaks her mind about needing great players on their team, something lebron does yearly basically, she gets suspended :D
im bout dat action boss
