Legit they signed Pat Jones, Tershawn Wharton, Christian Rozeboom and Bryan Brown who were all backup level players for their teams to be starters for the Panthers and they expect the defense to be above average. Also starting just bad players in Chau Smith Wade, Nick Scott, Demani Richardson and Mike Jackson.

That is 8 guys who probably wouldn't start on any playoff team last year who are going to be starting or a top 13 player on Panthers defense.

Panthers defense will be awful. I'm hoping they at least try to stop the run, all the players they signed and drafted seemed to be more run defense oriented. I do expect big things from the offense though.

If they don't have a top 10 run defense that means the coaching staff sucks. Pretty much all the defenders they signed are run defenders first.

The passing defense will still be bad. The offense should at least be average, hopefully Bryce improves.

Probably looking at 7-9 wins at best.

Top 10 run defense? Based on what? They have probably the worst linebackers in the NFL, Wharton wasn't even a starter for the Chiefs and Bobby Brown makes the 35th most among DT in the NFL, it is not like he is some premium signing.

Moehrig, Brown and Horn are only guys projected to start that were drafted in the first two rounds of the NFL draft. The rest of the defense is all bargain signings or late round draft picks.

The average defense in the league has 2x the amount of talent Panthers have on that side of the ball.

Derrick Brown being back should help a lot.

It's not about the overall talent level, the guys we signed are specifically meant to be good run defenders. Wharton, Bobby. Moehrig, Rozeboom etc. I expect Wallace to have a breakout season too. Draft position doesn't really matter in the NFL as much as the NBA. You see plenty of late draft picks turn into good starters, sometimes even stars. Undrafted guys too. Coaching/developing matters more for team success than having high picks.

I'm more concerned about the pass defense. We're pretty much relying on rookies to boost our sack totals, and I don't trust Horn to stay healthy.

Overall, we'll still have a bad defense. Probably bottom 10 at best.

I have cable and fire stick. I'm just on Hulu right now. Netflix was addictive for me. I needed to lay off for a while.

The island boys are the worst. I hate it when stupid people get famous. They act so hard, and ive watched all of the fights to see them get wooped. I dont necessarily think its wrong to enjoy harm off the island boys expense.

I really hate the modern version of being stupid gets you popularity and paid.

At least Jackass were funny, now you're just as likely to be famous by saying dumb stuff.

I've always loved pro wrestling and always copped **** about how stupid it was. Now it's the most common act to play the cheesey dumb heel to get attention and get paid.

I wish the Iron Sheik was still around to break their backs

There's a pretty high chances that in a few years both the Panthers and Hornets are going to be in double digit year streaks of missing the playoffs. Disgusting

Maybe if this season the Panthers win like 4 games they'll have a shot at Arch Manning. If Bryce isn't a top 15 guy this season he should be cut. No need to sunk cost fallacy our future QB. And this coaching staff is awful, I don't know how the defensive staff kept their jobs after last season. Gave up 200 rush yards to the Jags of all teams. The offensive staff isn't much better to be fair, they keep talking about running the ball and then don't run the ball.

completely unwatchable for 5th(?) year in a row
common denominator is owner... just like the hornets for 20 years. franchise is a dumpster fire top to bottom.
and xl next in long list of wr busts for panthers
has any city ever had a worse 3 year run of sports than charlotte the last 3 years?

Tepper has been awful for QB things, trading Baker is probably almost as bad as trading for Bryce at this point. His general impatience has set us back big time on both QB and coaches.

The issues go beyond him though. Historically the Panthers have had a good defense, very good LB's, good D-line. This current team has about 3-4 defenders who are above average at their position. That's on the GM for failing to acquire them and coaching staff for failing to develop. I think Canalas is worse than Reich, he's just clueless.

i dont follow panthers as closely as hornets, but morgan and canalas should be gone be end of year, right? its so bad. we'll be recovering from baker to bryce nonsense for years. so many awful decisions in a row across multiple gms/coaches.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
