God this season sucks already
Kittle out multiple weeks
Purdy has a toe and left shoulder injury and might be out Sunday with the toe (hopefully not turf toe)
Jennings MRI was clean but now getting a CAT scan

If only we invested in the OL and Purdy didn't have a 60% pressure rate on his drop backs. :banghead: :banghead:

Well, at least the next game is against the Saints and not an NFC West game

Arizona is next, Kittle will still be out and if this is turf toe for Purdy (no indications yet but I am not sure what else would cause you to be out with a toe) he could easily be out too. Plus any other new injuries come up. It is hard to be optimistic

Even with Jones in, we'd still have the better QB for next week. But man, the injury luck is not going away....

The Kittle injury is rough. He was supposed to be our primary receiving threat for the first few weeks. Pearsall played pretty well against a good secondary, but he and CMC are not enough.

A generic term like "toe injury" could be lots of things: a different type of sprain than turf toe, fracture, dislocation, stubbed or bruised, torn/broken/or detached toenail, laceration, something creating tendonitis or bursitis, etc.

But yeah, I agree with the injury luck of this teams it is kinda hard to be optimistic.

I agree it could be a lot but I think you can narrow it down quite a bit to possibly keep a QB out. I wish they weren't so vague on what it was because I just think the worst lol

CrimsonCrew wrote:In bigger news, they extended McKivitz for three years, $15 million per year. It's a lot of money, but I love the move. McKivitz has quietly come into his own at what is maybe the weakest position in the NFL (RT in particular). He's not spectacular, but he's been very solid, and I think he gets $20+ million on the open market this offseason if he plays the way he did last year so we get the home-team discount. He also did things the right way, showing up and busting his ass every day of camp. OT still a huge need, obviously, but we just couldn't go into this offseason with two holes at OT, which was a realistic prospect prior to this move.

Yeah given what Banks and Moore got in the open market it's pretty much a deal at this point.

I'd still like to upgrade him but there are bigger fish to fry on the offensive line so I don't hate extending him and working on replacing LT (when Trent retires), LG, and C first before worrying about RT.

So Brock already has a shoulder and toe injury and is questionable for week 2, very nice

Bartch has a knee sprain and is day-to-day. Seems like every time the team takes the field someone gets hurt.

Rejoice, Moody is finally gone

there needs to be a full investigation into why Lynch/Kyle thought it was a good idea to draft *the* worst kicker in the NFL in the 3rd round.

Moody waived, it had to happen.

Kittle on IR, which I think was expected, especially with a Thursday night game in the next few weeks.

They treat 3rd round picks like 6th or 7th rounds. They just need to promote whoever drafts in rounds 4 to 7 to handle the whole thing.

Moody was pretty good his rookie year, and he was a very good kicker at Michigan, but he just lost his confidence and needs to start over somewhere else

Pretty amazingly bad choice. Finally cutting bait is a great, although that means we are still going to be weak in the kicking game picking up someone now. Can't be worse though.

I think that Trent is a massive concern. Was supposed to be a major strong point but could be a weakness now. A big gamble to think he can beat father time.

They should have drafted a TE the last couple of drafts.

Kittle still very good but at his age and cap number they should have groomed a replacement.

Careful with that kind of statement.

We all thought that Special Teams couldn't get any worse after last season, but....

Regardless, Moody absolutely had to go. It was long past due, fortunately he finally got pink slipped before he cost the 49ers a game this season.

And yeah, riding the carousel of kickers doesn't exactly paint the brightest outlook. Still the bar has been set so damn low, that even being below average would be an improvement. So there is some reason for optimism.

Not sure what they are up to these days, but from what I remember Slye and McClaughlin were pretty solid when there were brought in to fill in for Gould in recent seasons. If they are currently free agents, and still stay in regular kicking shape/mentality, bring em in for a workout.

They did.

In 2023 they took Latu in the 3rd, and and Willis in the 7th. Unfortunately Latu was total trash. Willis' ceiling appears to be a special teamer, with next to no value on offense. Although being a 7th rounder, you can't really expect anything more than that from Willis.

So its not that they haven't drafted a TE, its just they haven't drafted a decent one.

The TE who won the game looked pretty good when he was targeted....

2025 was a great TE class, it was stupid not to grab one, there were even a couple of intriguing ones that went undrafted that made rosters.
