But I don’t really agree with the need for it to be 1 for 1. The guards that Naji is A) worth and B) makes more than.. are not going to be much better than the Klay/Christie/Exum group, if at all..

If Dallas is moving Naji, it should be willing to stack contracts and maybe even add assets to improve the team. If not, just trade Naji for a couple seconds and hope to improve the team next season via trade. I don’t see the jump from Christie/DLO to Ayo/Josh Green being worth losing Naji’s minutes behind Flagg?

I think Christie and D-Low IQ (as much as I dislike him) are both better than Green. S I wouldn't consider getting Green a leap, more like something in between a trip and a bungee jump.

ANd my hope is that Kidd has enough clout with AD to convince him that the center is his best position and whats best for the team, with D-Live backing him up. Then trade Gaff for a guy like Toppin who will cover those backup 4 minutes and even small ball 5 when the 2 are inevitably out for injury.

I think if Green is better than Klay, Christie, DLO, 20 healthy games of Exum.. it’s not better enough to give Naji’s minutes to Martin?

Once you look at the overpaid guys in the 18-30 mil dollar range, there’s upgrades worth it.

As for AD playing more center minutes? I have posted way too many Gaff trades so I like that idea as well. But I think I’d want a better third string center than small ball Toppin or Powell on the roster. AD is going to miss games, Lively is likely going to miss games. And unfortunately Dallas doesn’t want to tank.

Toppin is a good rotation piece, but I wouldn’t want to heavily rely on him as a center for stretches of games..

Travers is on a two-way and can't be traded. The Cavs are over the second apron and can't aggregate. With both Strus and Garland out, the Cavs would have to wait.

Wasn’t it possible to trade for a two way ? Boston did it .

—————————

ATL Gets: Caleb Martin
ATL Gives: TPE
Why for ATL? Martin gives them a very solid bench wing to shore up their rotation.

PG - Young / NAW / Krejci
SG - Daniels / Kennard / Buffon
SF - Risacher / Martin / Houstan / Djurisic
PF - Johnson / Newell / Gueye
C - Porzingis / Okongwu / Dante

—————————

DAL Gets: Malik Monk & Dario Saric
DAL Gives: Caleb Martin, Naji Marshall, & Jaden Hardy
Why for DAL? The Mavs get an upgrade at the guard spot who can help score, playmake for others, and space the floor. When Irving is back, he can revert back to an elite 6th man. They also shave a little money off their payroll.

PG - Monk / Russell / Williams / Irving (rehab)
SG - Thompson / Christie / Exum
SF - Flagg / Washington
PF - Davis / Saric
C - Lively / Gafford / Powell

—————————

GSW Gets: Naji Marshall, Terence Davis, & 2030 SAC 1st (Lottery Protected; then defers to least favorable between 2031 SAC 1st & 2031 SAS 1st)
GSW Gives: Jonathan Kuminga (S&T $63 mil/3 years)
Why for GSW? Instead of adding a guard to their glut, they bring in Marshall to help replace Kuminga while keeping their payroll low enough to keep Hield/Moody. They also get a future 1st as another asset to leverage.

PG - Curry / Melton / Curry
SG - Moody / Podz / Payton
SF - Butler / Hield / Davis
PF - Green / Marshall / Santos
C - Horford / Post / Jackson-Davis

—————————

SAC Gets: Jonathan Kuminga (S&T $63 mil/3 years) & Jaden Hardy
SAC Gives: Malik Monk, Dario Saric, Terence Davis, & 2030 SAC 1st (Lottery Protected; then defers to least favorable between 2031 SAC 1st & 2031 SAS 1st)
Why for SAC? The Kings get their target in Kuminga who gives them a high potential player to invest in. Kuminga also gives them another big, long, athletic forward next to Sabonis and allows the Kings to push Murray back to SF (which is ideal IMO). They also balance the roster more by swapping a guard for a forward (freeing up minutes for Schroder, Carter, LaVine, & Ellis). Lastly, they save a small amount of money this season as well.

PG - Schroder / Carter
SG - LaVine / Ellis / Hardy
SF - Murray / Clifford / McDermott
PF - Kuminga / DeRozan / Jones
C - Sabonis / Raynaud / Eubanks

I actually like the fit of Caleb on their bench.

But they gave 3.5 mil in tax space and only 14 players.

This would seem a really quick pass.

He can be traded, but he counts as $0 for salary matching. As such, in theory, he wouldn't count as aggregation since his salary doesn't combine.

However, the more important point is that two way guys are so rarely ever traded. We had one this offseason in the Utah/Boston Georges Niang salary dump, but it was solely so that Utah gave up "something" to Boston in the deal, rather than tying up their own 2nds with a top 55 protection.

Even more important in regards to this trade is that Luke Travers, or any other two way guy that just signed after hitting free agency, largely hold no trade value. If anyone was interested in him, they would have made a restricted offer for an NBA roster spot, instead of letting him just sign a two way?

Yea I think Atl balks at that. I would like to take a flyer on Bufkin if he were available for the cheap, but not sure he is.

But if the trade above were available and Nico didnt explore it when Dallas needed to open up a roster spot, he's even more of a nitwit than any of us could imagine

Based on prior history, I'm petty sure the O.P. included him for salary matching purposes. You're correct in that he can be traded. I should've been more precise. He can't be traded for salary matching purposes, which is the only purpose of including him.

Wow, nice work. I like how this works for everyone, especially the Kings and W's. Naji would be a great fit on the W's and Kuminga on the Kings means Keegan can move back to the three.

For some reason I assumed Jay's snippet was the proposed trade where Dallas got the TPE. Im not a fan of this for Dallas. I like losing Hardy and even Caleb, but that sacrifices too much forward depth and Malik Monk just does not have much value as we saw with Simons and Sexton, he's in that same tier.

Saric is deadweight at this point. I think if there's a Monk deal to Dallas, Klay has to go out.

Oh Khalil, why :)

We know what Josh Green is, and Naji is so much better in almost every aspect. Not to mention, cheaper.

Green is a better shooter and transition player, which is needed.

What's interesting is that I remember many claiming that Green was betetr without Luka. Where the games Luka was either out or on the bench, thats when Green truly shined. Luka isnt here anymore, but Green was his atrocious self in Charlotte, so I can't say I'd like to see him back unless it was Martin AND Hardy going out.
