Lively, who is from Philly, would be great Embiid insurance. He'd make a solid young core to build on with Maxey-VJ. Dallas' best lineups would involve AD at the 5 with Flagg and PJ as forwards. McCain gives them a young gun guard that they currently do not have. Gafford is already there to be the backup 5 and is still relatively young.

Maybe I'm a Dallas homer, but I think Dallas would be owed some value. Just not sure what that value is?

I would rather have McCain, but I think it depends on what you think his archetype is. If he is merely a good combo-guard scorer a la Sexton, etc. then Lively is definitely worth more. But I think he is going to have elite off ball gravity. I was so impressed with what little we saw of him last season, I am all in (more than I should be, probably). But I don't think the delta is huge, especially given the roster imbalances both teams have. I would say Lively + some seconds or equivalent to compensate for having less time left on his rookie deal. But, I am just one opinion : )

Just a one off bad idea off the Suns/Giddey trade..

Giddey and Klay to Phoenix
Jalen, Royce, Mark, 2029 LAL first to Chicago
Coby to Dallas

Phoenix pairs Giddey/Booker long term. Figures out what to do with Grayson or Klay.

Dallas gets a scorer.. that they can’t extend and costs a distant first..

Chicago replaces their scorer with a younger overpaid scorer.. gets a young question mark center, as well a distant first.

Is mark Mark williams? this leaves phoenix' center rotation super thin

if Phoenix bails on their biggest offseason win in a few years, they deserve everything that's happening to them for the rest of the 2020s

They’d be able to trade Grayson for a rotation big and would still have Richards, Maluach, and Oso..

Maluach is too raw and they tried richards/oso last year without success... hence super thin.. i dont think theres alot of C's available out there for allen given their lack of draft assets

Vucevic seems an easy one to add to the idea? Whether Grayson ends up in Chicago or another team sends a salary to Chicago.. Vuc’s age isn’t really a huge factor since they do have Maluach.

That would keep the roster balance pretty neutral, two guards and a center for two guards and a center (and Royce)..

Then Phoenix would have some first apron space to turn Richards into a bench forward to replace Royce?

If Dallas cant extend Coby, I dont think they should sacrifice a first for him. Losing Klay is definitely a plus, but too rich and risky

I don’t think anyone can extend Coby considering how cheap he is this year..

But you end up trading Gafford and Martin in the next 12 months if Coby sticks around? Stay under the second apron and hope Flagg is as good as people think and AD is healthy?

But if Dallas can shed Klay’s second year and get Coby for less than a first, that’s good with me..

My expectation is Dallas' roster is set to start the year, barring a team coming and offering up something unexpected. I think they are going to see if they can build a good enough offense around AD/Russell/Flagg with a belief they can have an elite defense if AD/Lively play most nights to start the season. And I think they hope to just stay in the playoff hunt with the idea that Kyrie will come back and boost the offense.

Now I think they are pretty optimistic on how good the offense is going to look(defense too honestly) and may look to pivot mid-season and we know historically Dallas has been a team willing to move early so we may see something well before the deadline. But I think they want to try out what they have first.

I know Khalil hates the fit of DDR, but man if he pops free in a Kuminga deal and Dallas could figure out how to make the money work, I'd hope they'd have some interest. I mean someone tell me who the best shot creator on Dallas currently is? The fact that you can't rule out Naji Marshall or Brandon Williams tells you just how much they lack that guy.

I don’t disagree that Dallas is going into the season with the group they have. I just don’t like the idea.

Same here, W&S OMax ia a strong indication that they like the roster as is, but I would rather have went after LeBron.

Yeah. After watching how last season ended, I just don’t see how they thought add DLO, a rookie and run it back was the right call.

Maybe overblown, but there’s only one team in the West openly tanking to start the season.. So Dallas isn’t getting many easy wins and seems closer to finishing 11th than 7th.. Not suggesting Dallas should’ve tanked, I have accepted Nico wasn’t doing that.. just some kind of upgrade was needed.

Maybe DLO and Flagg will both surprise me. Will not be upset to eat crow on this Dallas roster.

Sixers ideas ?

Trade Oubre *8M* / Drummond *5M*

Receive Nick Smith (2.4M) from Charlotte and Ousmane Dieng (6M) from OKC, saves Sixers some space here, they can sign minimums to reach roster compliance..

OKC receives Oubre
CHA receives Drummond

Love it because it leaves the front office with no excuse not to cut Plumlee.

Just down to Kuminga and Grimes in terms of RFAs of note. I haven't seen anything on either lately. Are these going to come down to the wire?

Malik Beasley was 6MotY runner up and he's still not got a contract as far as I can tell.
