If Terry and all that damn cap space can't be traded to a team in need of relief for at least some type of asset, then just park him on the bench and take the L. Unless they have an actual target to put in that open roster spot already (hopefully not Precious).

On the bright side, LA still seems to be signaling their interest in Wiggins. Hopefully they see their team isn't what they want it to be after the season starts and do the needful to get Wiggins there. I'm still open to Rui, pick and whatever filler is needed to make the salaries work.

We took the L since the day the trade was made..

He is likely bought out after the trade deadline.. to save Mickey a few mill

I don't think Terry is going to accept a buyout. His market is truly destroyed. I genuinely wonder what happened to him.

Giddey just set the market for herro. Signed a 4 year 100 million extension with the Bulls.

Looks like the Heat are persistent to move Rozier before the season.

As long as we don't stretch him.

We found out the first time that he's not Bam insurance. Precious is just a guy. He's just another body to fill out the bench who is familiar with how Spo does things.

I mean he’s a body who can play if Bam is injured. He’s clearly not Bam, not close. But we need big man depth quite clearly. We could do worse.

You would hope the Giddey situation helps Tyler settle, but the situations aren't really apples to apples. Giddey was on a restricted contract and he's not viewed as favorably as many seem to think. Being a guard, any guard, not named Tyler Herro doesn't get you an automatic boost outside of this forum.

If I had to make a guess, the guess is Tyler is getting the max extension.

It’s been the norm for 25y old All-Star level guards. The new CBA might make some people hesitate, but that’s really been overblown, we’ve already seen plenty of big deals this offseason (Fox, Booker) for players their franchises are clearly committed to. Judging by Pat’s comments from the presser, it’s likely the Heat will pay him.

And let’s be clear: a 25% / 3y max for Tyler isn’t remotely the same thing as a 35% / 5y max for a superstar. His extension doesn’t prevent Miami from making other moves, you can still comfortably fit a third max player alongside Bam and Tyler.

Looking at the numbers below makes this clearer. Even though max contracts are tied to the cap, teams actually build within the space between the cap and the aprons. That buffer is where contenders live, and many push right up against the aprons. On a 25% Tyler max, Bam + Tyler would account for only ~47% of that practical team building space (when his extension kicks in, in 3 seasons from now!), leaving more than enough room to add a third guy and still flesh out a contender around the trio.

If Dipo didn't get hurt the first time I think there is no Lowry trade. I think Heat were planning on Dipo, Robinson/Herro, Butler, Precious/Tucker and Bam lineups.

IIRC they tried to get both Lowry and Dipo at the deadline but they weren’t able to come to an agreement on the Lowry deal. Circled back that summer

They tried to get either one, not both togehter. The Heat decided on Dipo once the Heat couldnt agree with the Raps on the trade for Lowry. Heat actually had the offer for Dipo for months but was holding off for Lowry. If Healthy, Dipo was going to be the starting point guard, and good chance Dragic would of stayed and retired a Heat.

I believe the Heat wanted to give Robinson and Iggy for Lowry, but the Raps wanted Herro in a package deal.
