Yeah this seems like a lateral move at best for the Raps

I think it takes incentive to move Ingram. Struggling to find a home for him. Does Philly give some incentive to swap him and PG13?
Would the Bucks move Portis/Kuzma for Ingram + sweetener?

That was more of an example of where I see his value. With DeRozan still on the team Ingram doesn't make a ton of sense there.

I would feel bad for Sac fans, but I’d think their offer would be Demar/Monk as the salary base not LaVine. You’d pretend you have 3 stars all in their primes and try to lead the league in scoring at least. Figure out the minor asset owed, the third team that makes it make sense.

I think you are right. I actually don't hate it? Especially if they also replace Schroder with a combo-guard (think Simons since he is obviously available) in the starting lineup and run Ingram as the de facto point guard.

Simons - LaVine - Ingram - Murray - Sabonis

That could be a team that sneaks into the playoffs and is fun to watch. Simons/LaVine/Murray playing off of Ingram and Sabonis should be really hard to defend. Now, this team will also have the worst defense of all time, but I think we are about to see something like that, anyway?

worse than lateral. Bridges plays same position as CMB and Barnes and doesnt spread the court. we already have 6 SG on the roster too

Certainly makes sacramento better but no reason for Toronto to do that. There are zero takers for Monk/Derozan this offseason

I think teams would offer expirings and 2nds for Monk and possibly expirings for DeRozan. The reason is just to get him off the books. Toronto has to do something to clean up their cap and the players they are rumored to be open to dealing just have little value. I could see rhe Kings kicking in that Spurs first, though.

We have until TDL and can easily duck the tax by trading agbaji or Dick

I do not think the tax is the issue, it is that they have long term money tied up in a bunch of players that do not really fit together, and fit only on specific rosters.

Too soon to say that. Will see how this season goes when we are actually trying to win. RJ was very productive in a lesser role on a competitive team canada team. Hopefully he can reproduce that this year.

Sounds like a Kings player to me!

Would you consider a LaVine for Ingram and Filler swap?

Raptors are too high on their own supply. By the time they realise they should trade Ingram it'll be too late for that.

Yeah I mean if I were running the show, I'd be basically offering everyone up for the best price and trying to do a hard reset. I'd try to keep at least one of Barnes or CMB (probably just one tbh, I'm not sure how viable of a plan it is to build around two non-shooting forwards) but if anyone wanted to make a decent offer for Quickley, RJ, Ingram, or Poeltl (maybe with Dick or Agbaji thrown in as sweetner) they'd be on the next flight out of Toronto.

I think that will be what end up happening next year if we are not a play off team this year, but no reason to blow up a team that havent even had a chance to play together yet (given that we were tanking last year)

I don't think the Raptors see it that way or they wouldn't have assembled all those guys around Barnes. :dontknow: They have a starting lineup of five guys who are all in their primes, two of which have been all stars in the past.

They aren't building their team how the T&T board would but in theory they can be a HCA team in this year's eastern conference and then trade somebody to a gullible franchise next summer.

I don't think in theory they can be an HCA team. They've certainly made the assessment that they can and have made moves in that direction, but instead I think they have created the kind of team that keeps their fans in NBA purgatory for a decade. At least you all have a championship, though. I'd take a decade of purgatory to have that. Instead we get it for nothing.

Of course, like I said, they're going against the grain. But at least they aren't without escape hatches in a year or two.

Correct, but they knew that when they traded for and extended Ingram so I think it's very unlikely that they'd give him away before seeing how the team plays. The reality is that of their four big contracts, Ingram is likely to be the most efficient scorer. They can and should move Barrett to the bench (he'll be on an expiring deal next summer). They need not extend Poeltl. If Barnes doesn't make a leap, they can take calls on him.

They have options. IQ is likely to be difficult to move, but he's also a solid fit with Ingram so it's not that pressing with him on the roster.

Poeltl has been extended through 2029-30

TOR has 3 players locked in: Scottie (5 yrs), Poeltl (5 years), Quickley (4 years). Ingram (player option in 2027-28) and/or Barrett (expires 2027) are far more likely to be moved than any of Barnes/Poeltl/Quickley.

I actually think Derozan would look great on Detroit, who need another creator/vet/scorer. There’s also shared history between Dwane Casey + Demar.

So a 3 team between SAC-TOR-DET:

Sacramento gets: Brandon Ingram
Detroit gets: Demar Derozan + ‘26 TOR 2nd
Toronto gets: Malik Monk + Tobias Harris + ‘26 DET 1st (lotto protected)

I think Detroit passes here pretty quickly, especially if it costs a first. Tobias would be a King if Det does that deal.. I would think Detroit looks at Ingram for Tobias instead of Demar. Age/shooting seem like a better fit.

I’d rather just keep Tobias as the vet leader, trust in Ivey developing. Then have Caris off the bench and maybe playmaking Ausar can show some..
