Oubre and Drummond to Brooklyn

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Yesterday 2:48 am

Based on reports Philadelphia may trade Oubre and Drummond to resign Grimes: https://sports.yahoo.com/article/philadelphia-reportedly-considering-trading-drummond-173726129.html

PHI trades: Kelly Oubre, Andre Drummond, 2027 GSW/PHX 2nd (higher)
BRK trades: fake 2nd
Philadelphia gets further from the first apron. Brooklyn gets a nice second and two players they can probably flip for seconds later.

I would agree if Oubre and Drummond didn't have any value, but I think teams would be rushing to swap their useless expirings + 2nd(s) for these guys. But I could see the demand for more, too.

What do you see as the right amount?

miami paid a 2nd to dump highsmith's ~5.6M, and i have him as more valuable than the philly players. so probably 2-3 seconds

Highsmith also has a torn meniscus, though. I don't think they would not have paid to dump him if not for the injury (as in, I think some team would have been fine taking on that money with no compensation).

The problem is that Philly isn't looking to take back salary. It's a shame that Drummond burned his bridges in Cleveland because the Cavs could really use a backup 5 like him.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

that 2nd is basically guaranteed top 40 imo, and they can almost definitely flip Drummond/Oubre mid-season. Brooklyn should do this. Maybe they can extort another 2nd, but if the Sixers don't budge, I'd do it.

I'd have Oubre even/slightly higher than Niang and Drummond slightly lower than neutral (he should be on a min). So, two 2nds (without a 2-way coming back...) feels about right.

Problem is, I don’t think Brooklyn has the roster spots to carry these guys into the season? They drafted so many guys and have their developmental guys they like, that they might only have one roster spot for the both of them?

For the most part, Brooklyn is built to eat salary before the season for guys to be bought out or waived before opening night.
